Job Description

INSTRUCTOR - MEDICAL ASSISTANT/MEDICAL BILLING (PART-TIME)

Job Summary

Instructors work under the direct supervision of the Campus Director and with dotted line supervision from the Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator reports to the Campus Director with support from the Director of Education.

As an Instructor, you will teach students the Nursing Assistant curriculum as assigned which may include lecture, laboratory and clinical skills training. You will review lesson plans and prepare for class instruction, grade and electronically record assignments, actively promote student retention, support Clinicals as applicable, and perform related work as required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Primary and Alternate/Primary Instructor

* Accountable for the classroom, laboratory and clinical practicum.
* Is onsite and available during 100% of the clinical teaching time.
* Is onsite and available at least 50% of the classroom and laboratory time.
* Delivers course work using contemporary teaching strategies and practices
* Accurately records students' daily attendance
* Follows and enforces Student Guidelines
* Participates in the planning and evaluation of each segment of the curriculum.
* Monitors each new instructor in lecture, laboratory or clinical whenever that person is teaching something new for the first time.
* Maintains classroom in good physical order, helps to manage program supplies and keep equipment in good repair
* Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class at scheduled times and follows scheduled student break times
* May delegate classroom, laboratory and or clinical teaching responsibilities to a Delegated Instructor if directed to do so by the Campus Director and Program Coordinator.

Delegated Instructor

* Delivers course work using contemporary teaching strategies and practices under the direction of the Primary Instructor
* Accurately records students' daily attendance
* Follows and enforces Student Guidelines
* Maintains classroom in good physical order, helps to manage program supplies and keep equipment in good repair as directed
* Enters classroom at designated time with all necessary materials. Begins and ends class at scheduled times and follows scheduled student break times

All Instructors, Outside of Class Time:

* Complete a minimum of one pre-approved professional development workshop, seminar or course related to the teaching discipline of the Instructor every fiscal year
* Attend two Ross Education LLC in-services every fiscal year
* Attend formal and informal faculty/staff meetings
* BLS instructor certification may be required

Performs related work as required

Requirements

Instructors must qualify as stated below. Any exception will be reviewed on an individual basis and must be approved by the Director of Education.

* Graduation from a program accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) Additionally, the faculty member possesses three (3) years of occupational (i.e., practical) experience in the subject field in which they teach; and holds a current license, certification or other credential as required by local, state and/or federal laws to work in the field. In the State of Tennessee, the occupational experience must be a minimum of three (3) years of practical experience within the last seven (7) years in the subject area to be taught*
* Primary Instructor and Alternate Primary Instructor must be a Train-The-Trainer certified, licensed Registered Nurse within the State in which the school is located. The Primary Instructor may be the Program Coordinator at the same time.
* Delegated Instructor can be either a licensed LPN or a licensed RN within the state in which the school is located and are not required to be Train-The-Trainer certified.
* Must have sufficient ability to move around the building and classroom to satisfy student needs and/or facilitate student participation
* Must have sufficient visual and auditory ability to operate computer equipment, use telephone, read materials, use white board and use classroom equipment
* Ability to communicate effectively in classroom and individual settings
* Knowledge of materials (subjects) that will be taught to students and ability to use and communicate the curriculum
* Ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced work environment
* Ability to use current technology to maintain student records, e.g., Microsoft Office, CampusVue
* Ability to achieve or maintain credential and/or licensure within expected time frames
* Demonstrates professionalism in manner, dress and conduct as a representative of Ross and a student mentor
* Ability to remain objective and treat all students equally
* Attention to detail and commitment to quality
* Adhere to Ross Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics

Prior teaching or formal tutoring experience using a developed curriculum, preferred
