Job Description

Position:

Intern, Business & Legal Affairs (Summer 2019)

Duration: Minimum of 12 weeks Location: Santa Monica, CA

As a Legal Intern, you will work closely with Roku's in-house Legal team on a variety of legal issues including in the areas of digital content distribution, technology transactions, intellectual property, privacy and marketing. You will collaborate with our Legal team on projects designed to give you real-world, practical inhouse experience at the #1 TV OS company in the US. The internship will focus in large part on the review, analysis and databasing of Roku's most significant streaming deals and technology partnerships, as well as on day-to-day support of the Roku Legal team in Santa Monica. This internship will provide an unparalleled opportunity for a detail-oriented student who has finished the first year of law school and wants a deep dive into the inner workings of the streaming industry from the perspective of a true leader in this space.

Responsibilities:

* Review Roku's most important content and licensing agreements in order to log key terms in a searchable database
* Review and/or prepare simple agreements, letters and coversheets
* Legal research and writing on topics relevant to the streaming industry
* Review department's use of technology with a view to improving communication and effectiveness
* Identify opportunities to improve contract management and operational efficiency
* Any other related task or special project that the in-house legal team may request
* Work as a contributing member of a growing legal team

Requirements:

* Currently completing 1st or 2nd year of a JD degree at an ABA accredited California-based law school
* Knowledge of contracting, tech and intellectual property issues
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
* Able to work proactively as well as collaboratively
* Good analytical and problem-resolution skills
* Good written, oral and interpersonal skills

Nice to Have:

* Experience with Box and Salesforce
* Streaming industry knowledge
