Job Summary

The HFGCS Engineering group is looking for a Software Engineer with the desire to be part of a dedicated team responsible for design, development, integration, test, and deployment activities associated with an existing ground radio communication system. Voice switching services within the system allow radio operators to individually support two way voice and data communications with mobile and other fixed radio platforms worldwide. The management system is based on a custom software application utilizing multiple databases to control and manage a variety of HF radio, antenna, and peripheral components using serial and Ethernet data protocols. The primary control network is a TCP/IP computer network using commercially available IP routers and Microsoft Windows servers and workstations within a single Active Directory Domain to host the control application. The system is globally distributed and operates 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.

Primary responsibilities will focus on full software development life cycle activities, including the design, development and integration testing of mission systems software. The candidate should be self-motivated and willing to work in a fast paced environment as part of a dynamic software development team.

Job Responsibilities

* Performing full software development life cycle activities


* Developing and debugging multi-threaded Microsoft Windows based applications


* Hands-on participation in integration test activities


* Documentation and maintenance of legacy code


* Participating in formal peer reviews



Basic Qualifications

* A Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM program including Computer Science OR other bachelor degree in a STEM program (including Computer Science) that included 12 semester (or 18 quarter) credit hours in mathematics, including differential and integral calculus and applied mathematics and 10 semester (or 15 quarter) credit hours in natural science (biology, chemistry, earth sciences) including physics is required.


* US Citizenship is required.


* The ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance is required


* Proficiency in C/C++


* Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio 2013+


* Basic SQL knowledge


* Excellent verbal and written communication skills



Knowledge of the following subjects is desirable but not a prerequisite: Fortify, Coverity or other static code analysis tools, Microsoft SQL Server versions 2008+, computer networking and familiarity with Microsoft products. Candidate must have effective oral and written communication as well as good interpersonal and team skills.
