Job Description

Rocket Software is seeking a Junior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Denver QA group. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in programming and technology concepts, and experience with test development. An overall focus on quality and a critical eye for detail are requirements of this position.

Experience with software testing, test automation tools, and shell scripting are desirable. Candidate will be required to learn new product features and build tests for those features, automate existing tests, and write system-level tests of database functionality in the areas of performance, file sizing, data encryption, client-server APIs, and more.

Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline. Some experience in QA testing and test development preferred.

Candidate will be required to work in traditional office setting in the south Denver Metro area.

Required Skills


Create and run new tests on multiple Windows and UNIX platforms for U2 database, tools, and client releases.
Work with senior QA engineers to learn existing tests, expand on those tests, and build complete test suites.
Automate existing tests and convert new tests to automated suites.
Work with our performance and benchmarking team to assist in design and running of performance tests for database releases.
Participate with the development team in feature and test design during team-based development meetings.


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical discipline is required.
An interest in learning new technology and an eye for detail.
Ability to create test plans, define testing strategies, and a passion for uncovering hard-to-find bugs.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral
Team player attitude
General experience in Windows and UNIX environments.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented and possess excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize. Can meet strict deadlines and handle multiple assignments simultaneously.


Experience with SQL and databases.
Programming experience in Java, C, C#, Python
Experience with software testing and test plan design
Demonstrated experience with automation software testing tools
Experience with software performance testing
Familiarity the Agile development methodology
