Baird's Equity Asset Management business is seeing strong growth with assets under management climbing to $4B from $1B in the past few years. Baird Equity Asset Management growth is expected to continue given the addition of new products, new teams and an increased distribution platform. Today, the business offers a Specialized Asset Management service to high net worth investors and five institutional products - Mid Cap Growth, Small Cap Value, SMID Value, Large Cap Core, International and Global. Each of Baird Equity AM offerings has sizable capacity from current levels. Within Baird Equity Asset Management the Specialized Asset Management (SAM) team manages multi asset class portfolios designed exclusively for Baird's high-net-worth clients. The SAM team has seen rapid growth from increased adoption by Baird's financial advisors. At the end of 2017, SAM managed over $800M in client assets.

Internship Location, Availability and Hours:

Located in our downtown Milwaukee office, the intern must be able to work part-time during the school semester, ranging between 15-20 hours per week and full-time during the summer, 37.5-40 hours per week. We are seeking a student, local to the Milwaukee area,that can start in May 2020.

As an Equity Asset Management Intern, you will:

* Help maintain research and client databases that drive business and investment processes; Attention to detail is a must
* Maintain and improve research systems that includes regular updates to coverage/idea list, valuation and price charts, and technical scoring tracker
* Assist in the new client transition process by maintaining and updating the proprietary transition system for prospective clients
* Manage and complete several projects that will allow senior team members to focus on higher value-added priorities; Projects could include analysis on a stock, industry, mutual fund, or macro event
* This role will require an entrepreneurial zeal to take on a wide variety of tasks. All tasks are important to the success of building Baird Equity Asset Management
* Bring energy to the team and actively contribute to our culture of continuous improvement

What we look for:

* Pursue a bachelor's degree in Finance or Business, applied investment programs preferred; targeting May 2021 graduation date or later
* GPA of 3.2 or higher
* Strong interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written; A high level of professionalism is mandatory
* Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision, yet willingness to take direction; Detail-oriented individual with ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
* Ability and willingness to learn our business to develop a strong understanding of key priorities
* A deep interest in financial markets, particularly fundamental equity research and portfolio construction.
* Strong PC skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Knowledge of Factset is a plus
