Job Description

Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design seeks qualified applicants for teaching ceramics 1 & 2 on campus in the Fine Arts department as Adjunct Faculty who will be part of a growing, dynamic community of diverse educators. RMCAD is a small, premier college certified by HLC and NASAD offering degrees in fine and applied arts. RMCAD's on-campus program consists of eight-week courses offered monthly. Adjunct faculty are assigned courses based on availability and student enrollment.

Job Function:

Ceramics 1. ART1110

This course introduces students to the ceramic processes of fabricating, surfacing, and firing clay objects. Students will learn both wheel throwing and hand building methods as well as how to properly apply surfacing materials such as slips, underglazes, and glazes. Additionally, students will receive instruction on how to load and fire electric ceramic kilns. At the conclusion of this course, students will have acquired the technical skills and knowledge needed to use clay as an artistic medium.

Ceramics 2. ART 2210

This course builds directly on the knowledge and skills students learn in ceramics 1. Students are taught how to make plaster molds specifically for ceramic use, how to safely mix glazes, and how to fire gas fueled kilns.
