Job Description

RGI designs and builds environments, displays, and exhibits for business and consumer marketers and museums. We seek a CAD Detailer to successfully support the design development, fabrication, and installation of creative, custom work that includes cabinetry, architectural millwork, interactive (hands-on and digital) exhibits and displays, and modern interiors. This is a technical role but will involve working closely with both designers and builders to interpret creative concepts into detailed, engineered drawings. The CAD Detailer will also source materials, coordinating supply with vendors and ensuring that materials meet expectations. There will be some interaction with customers, but most communication will be internal and with vendors.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare scaled technical CAD drawings based on conceptual drawings incorporating cabinetry, metal, glass, fabric, plastics, and A/V equipment
  • Work with the fabrication team to engineer projects from design to build, including preparation of estimating, installation and shop drawings, as well as detail drawings for vendor coordination
  • Support project managers by preparing space-planning CAD layouts for events and architectural plans, and elevations for environments
  • Specify and source materials, hardware, and electrical/lighting specifications; coordinate supply and specifications with vendors; prepare Bill of Materials
  • Value-engineer projects as needed, proposing alternative specifications or methods that meet the design intent and support the budget and schedule
  • Support administrative and operational functions as needed

  • 2-year or 4-year degree in related field
  • 2-4 years industry experience in specialty construction/custom fabrication, millwork, exhibit/display or another related field
  • 2D and 3D AutoCAD proficiency, experience with Inventor a plus
  • Knowledge of building methods, preferably through first-hand experience

RGI is a member of the Ohio Carpenters' Union. The CAD Detailer is a Union position with all the benefits thereof. You do not need to be a Union member to apply for the position but membership will be required for hire (you may become a member when hired).
