Job Description

The Software Tools Engineer role is primarily focused on building, administering, and deploying self-service tools and automated processes, which enable Company developers to build, deploy and operate the Continuous Integration and Deployment pipeline supporting CompoZed and DCIO application development areas. As a Software Tools engineer you will have a passion for technology and be a technology strategist with strong leadership and enterprise wide vision, to deliver exceptional service to application areas.

Candidates should be self-motivated and collaborative IT professionals with a strong background in software development, systems administration and IT automation.

The scope of the role includes the selection, design, engineering, implementation and support of all tools related to the continuous delivery and agile development pipeline. You will work as a member of the IS Enterprise CICD team where you will own the infrastructure environment, product license management and administration. The role will also serve as the internal subject matter expert for continuous integration and delivery acting as an ambassador to advocate for its use and to consult and educate various application development teams across all technology stacks.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Build, manage and operate the infrastructure and configuration of various components and tools that manage the software development life cycle with a strong focus on automation
Write automated scripts to continuously improve the CI and CD pipeline, including evaluating products and stand up/demo-ing pipelines.
Set strategic direction for the use of tools across the Enterprise including use of Opensource offering
Develop policies, standards, guidelines, and related guidance for Continuous Delivery operations including continuity management, license usage reporting
Establish and implement standards for build artifact management, such as security and performance reports and automated builds.
Support onboarding of developer communities onto tools stacks
Monitoring and resolve environmental issues at multiple layers of deployment, from hardware, operating environment, network and application.

Standard; Monday- Friday

Job Qualifications

Essential Criteria
Must be available for rotation (if not a promotion); and
Must have good attendance and a clean disciplinary record; and
Currently at Band D or Band C1/C2 with a 2015 end of year performance score of 3 or 4; and
Minimum of 5 years' experience in software development or systems administration in a technology such as - Java, C#, C++, Objective C, Javascript; and
Familiarity with IT Operations(configuration management, logging and alerting, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis); and
Excellent understanding of software development best practices including SDLC, Software Configuration and Change Management, Agile, Scrum, Extreme Programming etc. and
Proven experience of Linux/Unix Scripting; and
Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills; and
Passion for working with new technology and an aptitude for learning.

Desirable Criteria
Proven experience of any/all of the following tools - GitHub, Git, Jenkins, SonarQube, Server/Code Scanning - AppScan, Protex and Artifactory Pro.

Travel requirements
Flexibility required to meet business needs; initial travel to Company Northern Ireland (approximately 2 to 4 weeks)
