We are seeking an experienced Technical Lead to join our Unix Operations Reliability Engineering (ORE) team. The candidate's primary responsibility will be to lead planning, implementation and complex troubleshooting activities for the UNIX ORE Team. In addition, she or he (s/he) should be able to learn and implement new tools and technologies into a controlled and complex production environment. The Tech Lead position is an engineering leader, is part of a larger team of highly qualified and skilled UNIX engineers and reports directly to the UNIX ORE Manager. The Tech Lead needs excellent interpersonal skills, team work and communication skills. S/he must be able to represent the team with a high level of professionalism with our service and business partners to provide solutions and resolve problems.
Responsibilities include:
Lead & Provide Engineering support for systems administration, configuration, troubleshooting across multiple UNIX Platforms. Coordination with Technical Services lines to ensure implementation of best practices for infrastructure governance, architecture, engineering, production support and service Management. Ensures on-time and safe delivery of technical solutions. Communicates effectively with the business/clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions and strategies. Continually defines ways to increase customer satisfaction and deepen client relationships Write and manage scripts and utilities to automate day-to-day systems administration and configuration management tasks. Provide solutions to a broad range of complicated problems spanning multiple technologies Assist with the monitoring, performance and analysis of existing applications, ensuring that the systems are operating within benchmarks. Coordinate with customers for the design, build and production readiness of infrastructure solutions and the development of business cases to support such initiatives.
Qualifications
At least 2-5 years of experience in IBM Symphony/IBM GPFS/Hadoop/OpenShift/BladeLogic/Ansible are highly sort. A STEM/BS or Master Degree (Computer Science, Engineering, IT, related field) with 7-8 years or 10-15 years related experience. Experience in UNIX Server hardware and Software problem determination, capacity planning, and root cause analysis. Hands-on experience designing and implementing systems across disparate technologies. Experience with Scripting tools to automate routine operation tasks. Experience in championing change and effectively managing project/program implementation. Expert knowledge of technical project management, project implementation, infrastructure engineering. Advanced skill in communications and leading teams in a highly matrixed environment Assess new third party technologies and internal customizations Documenting Engineering Solutions and Designs
Preferred Skills
2-5 years of experience in IBM Symphony/IBM GPFS/Hadoop/OpenShift/BladeLogic/Ansible will have added advantage. Exposure to varied operating systems - UNIX, Linux, Windows Articulates technical concepts using easily understandable business language
