Job Description

We now require a Software Engineer Intern and so welcome applications from talented, hands-on individuals with a desire to enhance their engineering/development career. You will work in the team developing Clinical Key www.clinicalkey.com the clinical search engine that makes it easier for clinicians, physicians and healthcare professionals to find and apply relevant knowledge and so positively impact patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

* Understand and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of simple complexity.
* Complete simple bug fixes.
* Under the guidance of senior-level engineers, successfully adhere to development processes, and coding best practices.
* Operate in various development environments (with a focus on Agile) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
* Resolve basic technical issues as necessary, with efficiency and an eye toward future improvement.
* Keep abreast of new technology developments.
* All other duties as assigned.

Key Technical Skills required:

* Bachelor's Degree with a major in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Business & Computing, Mathematics, Physics or similar
* Basic knowledge of Agile software development methodologies.
* Basic knowledge of data manipulation languages.
* Basic understanding of data modeling principles.
* Knowledge of data storage subsystems including rationale databases, NoSQL systems, and caching layers.
* Basic knowledge of applicable development languages including but not limited to: Groovy, Python, Java/J2EE, JavaScript, HTML, XML, and SQL.
* Ability to operate in Windows, OSX, or UNIX.
* Knowledge of test-driven development.
* Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
* Basic oral and written communications skills.
* Bias to action.
