Junior Systems Engineer

Zap Labs' Systems and Release Engineering Team is looking for aspiring UNIX/Linux geeks. The Junior Systems Engineer will work closely with Zap Labs' engineering and IT team to design and build the next generation systems platform and software delivery strategy for ZipRealty's consumer and business products.

You will take ownership of high-impact projects while having mentorship, with many opportunities and resources to learn and succeed.

Design and Implement new testing, staging, and production environments for our applications
Assist in the support of existing systems and processes
Propose the adoption of industry best practices
Drive and facilitate collaboration between Developers and IT Operations
Participate in strategic discussions about systems and application architecture

Basic Qualifications

Degree in CS, a related discipline, or equivalent of education and experience
Excellent analytical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and time management skills
Strong attention to detail
Linux or UNIX experience
Experience with at least one programming language
Understanding of web technologies

Preferred Qualifications

Strong UNIX/Linux skills
Experience with a configuration management system such as Chef, Puppet, or Ansible
Experience programming in Python, particularly with Python Fabric
Exposure to web development
Experience supporting Java / JVM applications
