Organization Description:

The Modeling, Simulation and Analysis Center (MSA) within the Systems Design & Performance (SD&P) directorate has the responsibility to provide, develop, and maintain performance and Operations Research simulations for all Raytheon Missiles Systems (RMS) products, support new business initiatives and development and execution of technology roadmaps. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to, development of concept of operations, mission planning, weapon test bed development and analysis, and development of high fidelity performance simulations, which include scene generation capability in multiple sensor bands, and system performance analysis including pre-flight prediction, post flight matching, and verification and validation.

Job Description:

Entry level engineer position for an individual with educational experience and professional interest in the development and utilization of models and simulations of different complexity and fidelity, including mathematical methods, 6DOF and high fidelity simulations, for the purposes of supporting new business, missile system design, performance assessment and flight test support. The individual will be responsible for the development, implementation, and utilization of modeling solutions to support trade studies and program simulations, ensuring intended performance.

Individual is expected to work in a team environment, on diverse projects and receive direction from his/her lead. The individual will be required to provide development support throughout product lifecycle, from initial concept to fielded product.

The individual must be able to perform multi-disciplinary research across integrated product teams consisting of GNC, Signal Processing and Performance Analysis personnel in the design, development, and utilization of digital simulation software in advanced technical computing environments and performs system modeling and analysis activities for the purposes of supporting new business, missile system design, performance assessment and flight test support according to the program schedule.

The individual will be responsible for the development and implementation of model-based solutions in support mission trade studies and performance simulations and to ensure it meets defined requirements and functions as intended. He/she will be expected to analyze and positively affect simulation software execution performance by applying state-of-the-art performance methodologies to the diagnostic facilities present in commercial microprocessors. He/she will require thorough knowledge of performance engineering as a discipline, its practices and procedures, in order to perform non-repetitive effective analytical work across a wide range of challenging computational problems including the preparation and completion of different analysis such as effectiveness, survivability and operational utility analyses for existing air defense, missile defense and advanced-concept weapon systems using established Operation Research/Analysis tools and mathematical methods.

Required Skills:

Proficiency in numerical computing environments such as MATLAB

Good analysis and problem solving abilities

Knowledge of physics, random variables and its application to modeling and analysis

Familiarity and knowledge of system engineering and analysis

Understanding of software development processes, object oriented design, and integration and test of software applications

Ability to interface with multiple engineering disciplines

Ability to maintain frequent communication with project leads and customers

Ability to troubleshoot simulations problems and write post processing scripts.

C/C++ programming languages

Shell/Perl/Python scripting

Experience in Unix/Linux computing environments

Needs to work well in teams and have the ability to multi-task

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

Desired Skills:

Experience and knowledge developing requirements for software and/or simulation products

Good written and oral communication abilities

Debugging/Analysis methodologies in optimizing application performance

Understanding of computer architecture and design and digital system modeling and simulation experience

Proficiency in Linux or Unix

Knowledge of Software Configuration Management principles, environments and tools

Experience developing software applications

Working knowledge of GP/GPU technologies and parallel processing

Knowledge/course work of radar, signal & image processing, digital communications, control theories, estimation theory and/or electro optics

Embedded firmware development using Verilog/VHDL hardware description languages

Familiarity and knowledge of system engineering and analysis

Parallel programming principles and processes for technical computing environments

Experience in modeling, simulation and analyses using Operations Research techniques and statistical and advanced mathematical methods in the areas of decision aids, social theory and human behavior simulation; with additional experience within systems engineering supporting requirements analysis, concept development and resource management.

Experience conducting studies using Applied Math and Operations Research methods including but not limited to regression analysis, math programming (e.g., optimization), stochastic models and simulation studies.

Familiarity with modeling techniques for advanced systems like optical sensors, lasers and sparse aperture arrays.

Strong presentation skills.

Required Education:

Bachelors or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Math or related field from an ABET accredited curriculum with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

The Job Title for a Bachelor of Science degree is a Systems Engineer I. The Job Title for a Master of Science degree is a Systems Engineer II.
