Job Description

Job Description: Systems Engineer I or Systems Engineer II
The Electrical Subsystems Directorate (ESD) - EO Center - EO Subsystem Architecture Department is currently searching for a Systems Engineer with analytical skills, interest and/or experience in infrared systems, radiometric analysis, measurements, and testing. Chosen team member will work with multi-discipline teams supporting military programs through the application of EO and physics-based tools in the development and production phases of optical sensors. Assignments may include EO system performance analysis, test data analysis, radiometric calibration, design support, test equipment design, troubleshooting EO systems, and providing solutions to a variety of EO problems of moderate scope and complexity.
Required Skills:
Ideal candidate will have experience or course work exposure to EO system performance analysis, test data analysis, and / or radiometric calibration, and will possess the following knowledge/abilities:

Classes in optical engineering and/or physics

Proficient in Excel and Matlab

Good verbal and written communication skills

Strong desire to learn and contribute in a team based environment

Candidate is required to attain secret level clearance.

Desired Skills:

Knowledge and experience in infrared systems, radiometric analysis, measurements, and testing

Class projects, professional internships, or academic research demonstrating the ability to apply technical course work or computer software skills

MS Optics, Physics, or Systems Engineering

This position can be a Salary Grade E01, or Salary Grade E02, based on the candidate's qualifications as outlined below:
Systems Engineer I (E01) Bachelor of Science in Optics, Physics, or Systems Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited curriculum with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
Systems Engineer II (E02) Master of Science in Optics, Physics, or Systems Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited curriculum with a 3.0 GPA or higher.
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
