Job Description

IDS Engineering's Systems Validation, Test and Analysis Directorate (SVTAD) is the central focus for integration, test and validation activities. SVTAD employees provide the expertise to ensure customer success through the development and execution of innovative and comprehensive test, verification, and validation strategies, processes, tools and techniques. SVTAD employees are involved in all aspects of test including: design-for-test, integration, subsystem and component level testing through sell-off of IDS ' most sophisticated systems and technologies.

Opportunities currently exist within SVTAD's Seapower and Sensor Systems Department in San Diego CA. The Seapower and Sensors Systems Department (SSS) provides expertise in the integration, validation, and sell off for various defense programs within IDS. SSS Engineers are involved in all aspects of the Integrated Product Development System (IPDS) cycle. SSS engineers have ownership authority to ensure that individual items are integrated and perform as expected as well as ensuring that the system can be sold off. In San Diego CA some of the programs SVTAD SSS supports are the Ship Self Defense System (SSDS), GPS-based Position, Navigation and Timing Service (GPNTS) and Landing Platform Dock (LPD) programs SSS supports Above Water Sensors, Undersea Systems, Integrated Mission Systems and Air and Missile Defense Radar family of programs.

Job Description

SSS's System Engineers work with the other IDS directorates and Integrated Business Teams from initial concepts to product sell-off, assisting in the integration and testing of hardware and software, developing test plans and procedures, debugging and testing systems functions and interfaces, and by conducting performance evaluation, system verification, live fire readiness reviews and system sell off.

New hires will be used to help integrate systems, (the "pieces" and how they fit together), verify the performance against functional requirements defined for the system (what it must be capable of doing and how well), write procedures that validate requirements and design of the products that make up the system (what components are needed and how they must perform), and perform qualification tests of the components into the overall system in preparation for its testing.

Required Skills:

BS or MS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Math, Computer Science or related engineering or science curriculum

Active or obtain US Department of Defense Secret Security Clearance within 30 days from date of hire.
