Job Description

Raytheon is seeking an experienced SME Network Architect to install, configure, and troubleshoot data networks. Tasks include configuring and installing routers, switches, firewalls, cabling, and other network devices. The SME will collaborate with team members to develop and deploy distributed network architectures, create network diagrams and rack elevations, recommend hardware and software solutions, and implement network monitoring. The SME will assist in the design and deployment of new distributed networks and the modernization of existing networks. The SME must be skilled in configuring and deploying Cisco networking equipment. The SME will sit with Customer Project Managers to drive the standardization process for network architecture and equipment as well as provide end-to-end integration.

The SME will be expected to work alone or with small teams, interacting directly with Customer Team Leads, Management, and end-users in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Flexibility is essential, and the engineer must be willing to work on a wide variety of IT tasks, either leveraging experience or learning new technologies quickly. The engineer will develop and occasionally present well-written reports and designs.

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • TS/SCI with Polygraph
  • Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
  • Skilled in configuring and deploying Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and ASAs
  • Experience with Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration
  • In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, VOIP, LAN and WAN topologies
  • Experience in network analysis and management, including monitoring, sniffing, auto-discovery, penetration testing, and documentation tools

Desired Knowledge and Skills:
  • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
  • Experience with Cisco Digital Network Architecture (DNA) or Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) installation, configuration, maintenance, and administration
  • Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar field of study
  • Professional certification(s) such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco, or VM VCP
  • Experience developing implementation and test plans
  • Skilled in network troubleshooting, fault isolation, and circuit restoration
  • Experience training personnel on communications equipment
  • Experience installing and configuring encryption devices

Required Education and Experience:
  • BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar field of study; Master’s Degree in an IT related field of study is highly preferred.
