Value Stream Lead (VSL)

Please Note: This position can be a Salary Grade G08 or Salary Grade G09 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Job Description:
The Value Stream Lead (VSL) is responsible for all manufacturing related activities within a production or depot manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Factory Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of up to 20 touch labor employees within one shift. The VSL will be tasked to define clear operational schedules, priorities, goals, and collaborate with functional management to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally the VSL will have accountability for production, development and depot deliveries.
This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work extended hours (when required) in a fast paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in a manufacturing leadership role.
The Value Stream Lead is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
  • Manage and lead up to 20 Missile Technicians
  • Coordinate on-boarding - Communicate security, safety, reporting location, policies/procedures, training
  • Timecard management
  • Factory Leadership interface and interactions
  • Cost / Quality / Schedule performance
  • Safety compliance
  • Communication of Value Stream Manager requirements
  • Interface with other Value Stream Leaders across shifts
  • Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow
  • Prioritizes project issues and assists in the resolutions process to meet productivity, quality, and organizational goals and contractual delivery requirements
  • Provide the required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training, etc.) to ensure all employees work in a safe working environment
  • Ensure compliance to all pertinent operating procedures and work instructions
  • Total Employee Engagement management
  • Support of Layer Process Assessments (LPAs)
  • Security Compliance
  • Quality Compliance (Torque Verification / ESD / FOE / Audit / Training / Certification)
  • Daily coordination and facilitation of Tier I/II Meetings
  • Support Tier III meetings
  • Overtime coordination and Management
  • Participate in Factory weekend coverage
  • Maintain SME Lists Qualification Training (compliance / accuracy)
  • Qualification Training management
  • Schedule classes with Technical Training (as requested)
  • Cross Training Plan for touch labor
  • Responsible for assigning escorts
  • TAKT management
  • Team Facilitation

Required Experience
  • 1 year leadership experience
  • 4 years’ experience in manufacturing or similar industry
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and personnel with little to no supervision.
  • Experience with identifying improvement opportunities and leading/completing process improvement projects.
  • Experience in monitoring team metrics, resulting in a path of continual improvement.
  • Experience in conflict mitigation between team members
