Job Description

The Systems Engineering Integration & Test (SEIT) organization has a leadership need for a Section Manager (SM) to support the Radar Sensor Systems (RSS) Department. The section manager will support the RSS Product Line that is part of the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Systems (ISRS) Mission Area in Raytheon Space & Airborne Systems.

JOB SUMMARY

The Radar Sensor Systems SM positon will specifically lead the Advanced Surveillance Systems Requirement Development section in Dallas, TX that is made up of IPTLs, LSEs, and System Engineering generalists. The section manager will work closely with the engineers, other functional managers, senior management, and the program managers to fully engage in and support RSS pursuits and initiatives.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Generate briefing material and must be able to effectively and clearly present the material to team members, customers, and various levels of management
  • Leading a highly motivated group of 12-17 engineers working on a variety of development, production, and sustainment programs
  • Managerial aspects of the section including: providing adequate staffing/skill-sets for programs and proposals, staff performance and career development & training, support to tool/process development & deployment, administration of performance appraisals, merit increases, and providing open and honest feedback to section personnel
JOB RELATED ACTIVITIES
  • Workforce planning (forecast & staffing); Drafting/submitting job requisitions to meet program staffing demand; Hiring and onboarding of new employees
  • SEIT ROMs/proposals Reviews; support/review the bidding effort for SEIT as an approver of the systems engineering content
  • Briefing the Department Manager on section program activities (program status, issues, risks, and all ROMs/proposals)
  • Submittal of weekly status report
  • Review & approve Expense Reports
  • Perform SPEED transactions as part of staff management
  • Weekly timecard review, approval, and auditing
  • Bi-monthly eStaff Supply loading
  • Mentoring of employees, perform career path planning, and supply employee performance feedback; Use the SuccessFactors tools for goals & accomplishments tracking; Perform all Performance Development (PD) activities throughout the yearly cycle
Required Skills
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional engineering experience in the aerospace/defense industry
  • Strong understanding of radar design and development processes (requirements development, SE artifacts, trades, etc.)
  • Proven experience as a supervisor, manager or leader of a team of engineers and/or suppliers, Integrated Product Team, or cross functional team
  • Strong program analysis, project planning, and execution skills are necessary
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position requires an active Top Secret U.S. DoD Security Clearance as of day one of employment

  • Demonstrated Earned Value acumen (certification)
  • Strong experience with BOE creation and proposal technical writing
  • Raytheon IPDS implementation know-how
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Able to handle multi-tasking and work in a team based environment
  • Capable of forming meaningful relationships with customers, understanding their mission needs and problems, and effectively communicating to customers the Raytheon approach to solving their problems
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point, MS Project
  • Strong business, project management, negotiation, and customer interaction background
  • Strong leadership presence and mentoring influence
  • Knowledge of Common PDM and other legacy product data management systems
  • Raytheon (R6s) Six Sigma Certification
  • Self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Strong work ethic and be flexible and adaptable in order to respond to customer needs as they arise
  • Experience with RSS products
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s (BS) Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution (i.e. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Physics, etc.)
Desired Education
  • Masters’ (MS) Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited institution (i.e. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Physics, etc.)
