Job Description

This is a multi-level position, Financial Analyst II or Sr. Financial Analyst, based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and requirements for this position.

The Technical Accounting team at Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) in Tucson has an immediate opening for the role of Financial Analyst within Internal Controls Excellence (ICE). The role is responsible for ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), assessing the effectiveness of internal controls, participating in RMS and Corporate-level projects, and identifying improvements in the design of processes across the business. The role is key to the reliance placed on internal controls by Management, Raytheon Internal Audit, and our external auditors.

The Technical Accounting team supports the Business Controller organization through: EAC compliance, contract reviews, quarterly financial reporting, assessing transactions under US GAAP and Company Policy, Internal Controls Excellence, completing finance projects, leading the adoption of new accounting standards, and providing accounting training to the broader finance organization. The position will allow for opportunities to cross-train and assist in these areas.

The candidate will have the opportunity to develop their skillset while interacting and gaining exposure with professionals across the Company.

Job Duties:

  • Perform ongoing testing of key controls to validate the effectiveness of controls over financial reporting for RMS.
  • Ensure the Company’s sustained SOX compliance through monthly reviews of self-assessments, annual preparation of risk assessments, quarterly facilitation of certifications, and continual evaluation to improve key controls.
  • Assess and conclude on the severity of identified process improvements or control deficiencies in design or operation.
  • Formally document findings and conclusions for inclusion in deliverables to Corporate.
  • Identify and test appropriate remediation procedures to support reliance on the key controls of the business.
  • Lead the annual walkthrough procedures for all Raytheon Missile Systems’ control cycles.
  • Provide guidance and feedback directly to stakeholders across the business for areas of potential improvement to the design or operation of key controls.
  • Work closely with ICE teams of other Raytheon businesses and Corporate to identify best practices and share lessons learned.
  • Participate in team-based projects or initiatives to improve processes, systems, templates, and tools for greater efficiency or accuracy to support the internal financial control environment.
  • Perform special reviews under direction of the Controller to assess the broader internal control environment to include evaluations of RMS’ global sites.
  • Coordinate the ongoing assessment of compliance with Raytheon’s Anti-Corruption Sustainment program.
  • Serve as a point of contact for the external audit team through the quarterly review and annual audit procedures.
  • Do you meet these minimum requirements?
  • 4 years finance/accounting related experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business related field or a related MS degree and 0 years of experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of basic financial accounting concepts and processes
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with a great deal of autonomy
Highly Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of the financial control requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley regulations
  • Experience testing and evaluating internal controls in either internal or external audit for publicly listed companies
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or equivalent
  • Proficiency in financial and reporting software
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
