Raytheon is seeking Senior Software Engineer to join and expand our distinguished team to develop a state-of-the-art ground station for the next generation of low earth orbiting environmental satellites. The development of this national asset will provide global coverage, monitor environmental conditions, collect, disseminate and process data about the Earth's weather, atmosphere, oceans, land, and near-space environment. This system/software integration position reports to the Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS) Integration Lead on the JPSS program.

This individual will be responsible for performing segment level integration on a daily basis. This integration pulls together the six subsystems, COTS applications and hardware associated with IDPS to ensure stable software that functions per the released segment level Ops Cons (operational concepts) and architecture’s technical approaches. Tasks include originating and maintaining software integration procedures, identifying and creating test data as needed, executing integration procedures, originating or modifying integration scripts, reporting results, and maintaining associated integration desk instructions. This integrator works closely with the local and remote development teams to determine root cause and verify fixes. The integrator will also be responsible for demonstrating software functions to various groups.

Required Skills:

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • US Citizenship required
  • 4+ years of technical engineering experience, with a proven track record of increasing responsibilities
  • Excellent software troubleshooting, cause and effects analysis, problem isolation, and writing problem reports
  • Ability to understand a large, complex system and then determine the most efficient way to verify proper operation of key system functions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Team player who works well with other individuals and organizations including development, SCM, systems engineering and test engineering
  • Current UNIX or Linux command skills
  • Experience in process improvement, team efficiency and lessons learned
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly come up to speed on technical efforts currently underway
  • Some US domestic travel

Desired Skills:
· Experience writing and executing software integration or test procedures
·IDPS Experience
·Experience with satellite ground systems, particularly satellite data processing
·Experience in integration or test environment
·Experience in preparing technical documents
·Demonstrated self-starter – proactive in determining goals and objectives and pursuing the necessary course of action
· Understand importance of interface architecture, requirements and dependencies
· Experience with Red Hat Linux
· Writing and modifying PERL scripts and Excel macros
· Experience in Cloud Computing Environments
· Experience using ClearQuest to document software problems
· Experience using ClearCase to version control software and data

Required Education (including Major):
BS/BA in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math or Engineering related field
