Job Description:

Raytheon’s Rotational Engineering Leadership Development Program (RELDP) fosters world-class leaders capable of leading Raytheon's engineering functions across the company. Program participants rotate through Raytheon, gaining exposure to cutting-edge principles, products and trends, working with current leaders, and developing the skills and competencies needed to help shape the company's future.

During this two year program, participants will have two diverse assignments lasting 12-months each, and located in different geographical locations. Participants are engaged in a wide range of learning experiences including mentoring, live and self-paced learning, skills assessments, community service, career planning, networking, and exposure to Raytheon-wide facilities and practices. Individual development plans are linked to Raytheon’s leadership competencies with the goal of developing Raytheon’s engineering leaders of tomorrow.

The person selected for this role must be willing to geographically relocate multiple times during the 2-year program duration.

The first assignment associated with this job requisition is with the Software Engineering Center (SEC) within Raytheon Missile Systems. The SEC’s primary products and technologies are embedded real time software development and missile application software development. We develop flight software applications, including integration and test on missiles, launchers, fire control and other complex systems. In this assignment, the selected candidate will support a missile development program as an Embedded Software Engineer. This will include the opportunity to design, code, test, and integrate software to satisfy software development requirements. The selected candidate will work in a team environment that uses Agile software development methods with the Scrum Framework. Problem solving in this team environment includes clearly articulating the problem, offering solutions, and software design, integration and test of these solutions. This position will also include performing software and systems requirements analysis and modifications. Experience all aspects of a software development life-cycle as a member of a fast-paced agile team on the leading edge of:
  • Real-time systems design

  • DevOps technologies and methods

As an entry-level Software Engineer, you will:
  • Assist and participate in the research, design, development and testing of real-time embedded software, firmware, and tools, to include development of new work products or enhancement of existing applications and systems
  • Design, code, test, integrate and document software solutions
  • Participate in internal review of software components and systems
  • Collaborate with project leaders and other professionals within Engineering
  • Work on problems with defined scope, schedule and expectations
  • Follow established development practices and processes to maintain the configuration management of software products
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Required Education and Skills:

  • Graduating with a Master’s of Science degree or PhD in engineering (any discipline) or hard science (physics, mathematics, etc.) in the current academic year (August 2019 - June 2020) with a working knowledge of C, C++, or Java
  • A 3.5 GPA or higher in graduate studies; a 3.2 GPA or higher in undergraduate studies
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Education and Skills:
  • Strong technical capability
    • College coursework covering modern software languages
    • 1 year or more of calculus, physics and computer science studies that include assembly level programming
    • Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
    • Knowledge of systems software design, operating systems and architectures
  • Internships or cooperative work assignments in an applicable embedded software development environment or DoD environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
  • Holding a current Secret clearance is a plus
