Job Description

This is a temporary position with undetermined length.

This position will provide IT systems administration in a Microsoft server and Windows environment. Basic
understanding of Windows Server internals as well as a solid knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems. Perform system imaging and helpdesk functions. Responsible for data backups, restores, system patching, and Antivirus definition updates. Install and configure software applications requested by end users. Primary customer interaction involves resolving support issues for the engineering community using helpdesk and task assignment methods. Work with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security compliance requirements. Document and follow basic IT processes and procedures. Work as a team member in a diversified technological environment. Use troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems of a mild to moderate scope and complexity.


Minimum Required Skills / Certifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field and one year of experience or
  • High school or GED graduate with 8 years’ experience or
  • Associates Degree and 5 years’ experience
  • An active DoD Secret Clearance
  • Knowledgeable in Windows and/or Linux Operating Systems (OS)
  • Understanding of Antivirus and basic security hardening
  • Demonstrated experience supporting recent versions of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to obtain required Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification) within 6 months of hire date
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds
  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours
Highly Desired Skills / Certifications:
  • Familiar with NIST Risk Management Framework as described in NIST Special Publication 800-37
  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification)
  • Performing analysis on cybersecurity collected data and test results
  • Security related Network (e.g., Cisco) and Operating Systems (e.g., Solaris) certification or training
  • Conducting cybersecurity audits to ensure appropriate implementation and compliance of the security posture
  • Experience with information security toolset including anti-virus, Vulnerability Assessment, HIDS/ NIDS
  • Experience with network and system security administration, including operating system security configuration and account management best practices for UNIX (HP-UX & Solaris), MS Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and CISCO system.
  • Experience with IA vulnerability testing and related network and system test tools; e.g., Retina, NMap, Nessus, Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP)
  • Knowledge of backups, principles, and safeguards
  • Basic DNS, DHCP, and Active Directory experience
  • Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, and/or DoD/RMF
  • Experience in Veritas Backup Exec software
  • Troubleshooting basic workstation and server issues
  • Ability to train others in standard IT processes and procedures
  • Basic Windows scripting
  • Self-Starter, customer focused, adaptable, attention to detail, time management skills, ability to multitask, ability to work with general supervision and follow established procedures
