The Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) program, is seeking a highly motivated full time Tech Refresh lead to provide technical leadership for the JPSS Common Ground System located at the Raytheon facility located in Aurora, CO

Raytheon is developing the next-generation global weather satellite system. The JPSS program is developing, deploying, and sustaining the JPSS Common Ground System which includes the Interface Data Processing Segment (IDPS) and the Command, Control, and Communications Segment (C3S). This leadership role is for the JPSS C3S Tech Refresh Lead on the C3S Team and will report directly to the C3S IPT Lead.

The Tech Refresh Lead is responsible for oversight, management, coordination and execution of the full C3S tech refresh effort for thecurrent operational B2.0 hardware at a cost of ~$23 Million. This role is ideal for someone with knowledge of the C3S software, hardware and deployment processes since an entire new COTS/hardware baseline is being deployed to existing operational strings. The hardware will be deployed to 18 different locations throughout the next two years both within the United States and internationally. All of the deployments must not impact operations of the existing system and thus require extensive coordination and communication with the NOAA/NASA customer. The lead must be motivated, an excellent communicator and capable of pulling significant amounts of data together to ensure the team is functioning optimally and accurately to achieve success. Finally, the lead should have a good understanding of the shipping process and EXIM requirements to ensure all shipments are pre-coordinated, planned and executed on-time and in compliance with all process and policy. The lead must also be able to effectively work cross function as the team is made up of many different experts (I.e. HW, SW, SE, INF/SA, Network, Security) to ensure success.

The individual needs to be a highly motivated, self-starter that can quickly learn/assimilate complex situations/problems, identify root cause, formulate corrective action plans, communicate effectively and drive to completion/resolution.

Duties can include, but are not limited to:
  • Leadership of a multi-functional team
  • Technical oversight and guidance of design, build-up, integration, shipping and deployment of the C3S Tech Refresh HW/SW
  • Extensive communication with the program management office and customer (NOAA/NASA)
  • Follow established Shipping & EXIM processes and procedures to ensure compliance and on-time delivery
Clearance Requirement: Must be a US Citizens with a Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience
  • Proven leadership skills for a geographically dispersed cross functional team (HW, SW, SE, INF/SA, Security, Networks)
  • Strong integration and troubleshooting background
  • Experience in Shipping and EXIM process and compliance adherence
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills with a customer and/or program management
  • Organized and detail oriented to ensure proper tasking and execution of detailed inchstones/tasking
  • Experience with field/site deployment of complex computer, network, storage, and COTS based satellite ground systems
  • Project management experience
