Job Description

This position can be either a Sr. Regulatory Compliance Analyst or Principal Regulatory Compliance Analyst based on the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Job Description

The primary role of the Trade Compliance Investigator is to conduct investigations related to potential violations of U.S. export laws regulations and/or related company policies. The Trade Compliance Investigator is also responsible for preparing initial drafts of voluntary disclosures or internal closure memoranda as well as helping devise, implement, and track necessary corrective actions.

Responsibilities:
  • Gather and analyze documentation related to potential export violations and conduct interviews of relevant personnel.
  • Prepare initial drafts of voluntary disclosures or internal closure memoranda regarding substantiated violations for review by RMS Trade Counsel.
  • Partner with internal functions, including Quality and Mission Assurance, to determine root causes of violations and develop effective corrective actions.
  • Work with stakeholders to complete corrective actions implemented in response to violations.
  • When requested, conduct audits of export and import authorizations and evaluate compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Help prepare regularly scheduled compliance metrics and reports.
  • Perform other Trade Compliance duties as assigned.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 4 years of regulatory compliance, investigative, and/or legal experience.
  • Excellent writing skills and experience drafting detailed factual and/or regulatory analyses.
  • Experience in project coordination and/or project management to include developing and delivering multiple work assignments in a deadline driven environment.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. export/import regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR); Export Administration Regulations (EAR); Foreign Trade Regulations (FTR), and applicable Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) regulations.
  • Results driven focus with the ability to partner with Organizational resources, be proactive but also able to deal with reactive situations to handle unexpected setbacks, obstacles and time constraints.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow through on assignments to achieve desired results.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a high volume of tasks and projects effectively and under strict deadlines.
  • Current DoD Secret Security Clearance
Education
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree, particularly a JD, is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment

  • Normal office environment.
  • Generally performs work during normal business hours, but may be required to work afterhours.

Travel

May be required to travel two or more times per year, both domestically and internationally, in support of ongoing investigations.
