Job Description

Raytheon is supporting a U.S. Government customer on a large mission critical development and sustainment program to design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment; including introducing new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats. Raytheon Cybersecurity and Special Missions (CSM) is seeking a Principal Network / Hardware Engineer to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced cybersecurity capabilities.

- Leads or supports the design, development and hardware build-out of networked datacenter racks
- Develops detailed engineering packages for the team to use for rack buildout
- Supports new and existing racks and associated Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) components and cable installation include rack-to-rack cable installations
- Performs and documents rack and component audits
- Performs problem isolation and resolution of problems through troubleshooting and devising effective solutions
- Plans, evaluates, coordinates, tests, installs and successfully implements new and existing hardware across physical media, protocol stacks, switches, routers, firewalls, intrusion detection devices, and other network and rack components
- Installs patches and maintains accurate records of network/hardware changes and patch/update levels
- Performs network management functions such as network monitoring, maintenance, IA, performance measurement and reporting
- Performs vulnerability scans (e.g., Harris STAT, Retina) as requested
- Performs updates to network devices including firewalls, NIDS, switches, and routers
- Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions, network policies, and procedures
- May need to coordinate third-party maintenance for network and rack equipment.

Required Skills:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Must be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance
- Must be able to obtain DHS Suitability
- 8+ years of directly relevant experience
- Proficient with network and hardware rack component designs, installations, and maintenance activities
- Experience in Hardware Engineering for the purpose of validating a physical datacenter rack layout against the drawing artifacts
- Experience and excellent understanding of rack power, heating, cooling requirements and designs including AC/DC power and grounding
- Hands-on experience with different cabling types (e.g. Cat-5, Coaxial, Multi-conductor, Fiber-Optic)
- Knowledge of common information system (computer and network) hardware interfaces
- Ability to read and understand engineering documentation and drawings in various formats such as AutoCAD, Visio
- Ability to lift hardware components (up to 50lbs)
- Demonstrated experience and/or familiarity with one of more of the following: Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), log analysis, malware analysis, network traffic flow, traffic and packet analysis
- Demonstrated experience and/or familiarity with tools used for security analysis (e.g., tcpdump, Wireshark, snort, ngrep, nmap, strings, hexdump, md5sum, systools)
- Demonstrated experience and/or familiarity with Security Event Incident Management, Log Correlation and Network Behavior Anomaly detection systems (ArcSight, QRadar , Splunk, Mazu, Arbor, etc)
- Demonstrated experience and/or familiarity with IDS systems (e.g., SNORT, SourceFire, Proventia, BroIDS)
- Demonstrated experience and/or familiarity with one of more of the following: BGP, IGRP, DNS, VVRP, resilient network design, VLAN's, VPN's, NetFlow, packet capture technologies
- Experience and/or familiarity with ACLs, IAVAs, and Certification & Accreditation (ICD 503/DCID 6/3) processes as they apply to network engineering lifecycles
- Must be able to work collaboratively across agencies and physical locations

Desired Skills:
- Experience in developing Interface Control Drawings, Cable Assembly Drawings, Wiring Diagrams, Installation Drawings, and Rack Elevation Drawings
- Training/Experience with industry standards on Data Center Cabling (e.g., DCIM, ANSI/TIA-942-A, ANSI/BICSI 002-20XX)
- Training/Experience with industry manufacturing/inspection/audit standards (e.g., IPC-WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610 etc.)
- Training/Experience with industry inspection/audit standards (ISO-9001, AS-9100 etc.)
- Technical understanding of cybersecurity attack techniques and associated mitigation techniques for networks

Required Education:
BS Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, OR Computer Systems Engineering. Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education.

Desired Certifications:
- IAT level II certification
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar certification
