Job Description

The Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Mission Capability Verification Center (MCVC) Mission Assurance (MA) organization enables engineering quality solutions, capabilities and services to the business. Most important is collaboration with our functional partners and customers (internal and external) to execute and solve problems quickly and efficiently. MA embeds itself throughout the Engineering lifecycle to prevent defects from reaching the warfighter and to ensure flawless program execution to meet quality, cost, schedule and technical objectives.

We have an opportunity for a Hardware (HW) Quality Engineer (QE) to play a pivotal role across disciplines on our Mission Assurance team located at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM. The MA Section is responsible to partner with Engineering and other functions to ensure work products are free from defects throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assures product quality and effectiveness throughout the product life cycle in all phases design, fabrication, calibration, inspection, and mission execution
  • Collaborates closely with quality, operations, supply chain, and engineering personnel to ensure process capability and quality control
  • Ensures programs and core processes meet customer/end user objectives
  • Closes quality issues using application of quality sciences and teamwork
  • Inspects test mechanisms and conducts quality assurance activities
  • Monitors and/or audits program operations or core processes and grows others knowledge of quality standards, methods and procedures
  • Proactively interacts with team, management and the customer to coordinate quality program requirements and activities
  • Ensures completion of required documentation, identification of nonconformances and noncompliances, resolution and closure of open issues, and ensures quality and configuration of program assets
  • Flexible to work across quality disciplines and provides surge capability to programs during key events
  • Able to work long hours and/or weekends, when required, to meet program and missions objectives
  • Travels and work in remote sites (domestic and international) to support program requirements
  • Works in hazardous environments exposed to energized equipment, radar radiation hazards, and unexploded ordnance
  • Assess Engineering work products (Peer Reviews, Design Reviews, Mission Planning, Configuration Control Boards, Code Reviews, Product Readiness and Sale, etc.) to identify and eliminate in-phase defects
  • Perform data analysis to drive root cause and correction action
  • Participate in test preparation and execution to ensure requirements verification
  • Review Risk and Opportunity data to lead projects to eliminate or reduce risks and/or realize opportunities
  • Investigate failures, participate in failure review boards, support failure investigation teams and drive root cause analysis
  • Drive continuous improvement
  • Drive implementation of work standards in a variety of engineering and test activities
  • Drive adherence to the Technical Data Package generation and release process
  • Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and AS9100 requirements through a working knowledge of the standards, Raytheon Policies, and IDS, MCVC, and Program command media

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer Engineering, Systems, Quality, or other related discipline) plus a minimum of 4 years Quality Engineering experience
  • Experience working with component, sub-system, and/or complex electro-mechanical systems
  • Must be able to work in a field mission environment
  • Must be able to support mission needs requiring travel
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense development and or test programs as a quality engineer
  • Working knowledge of Root Cause and Corrective Action processes and tools
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 Quality Management Systems
  • Domain knowledge in RF, Power, Signal Processing or Electronic Systems
  • Domain knowledge in field-testing
  • Domain knowledge in Software Coding and/or Testing
  • Experience in multiple phases of the program / product life cycle
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification
  • Existing Secret Clearance
Required Education (including Major):

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Computer Engineering, Systems, Quality, or other related discipline)
