Job Description

Sr Systems Engineer
Colorado Springs, CO


The Integrator will lead exercise I&T efforts, and work with other MDA organizations, to integrate C2BMC, BCM, BOA and FOXSIM into exercises, characterize C2BMC performance and provide a venue for Warfighter (WF) Tactics Techniques Procedures (TTP) development in multi-system BMD System (BMDS) tests and exercises. External organizations with which the Integrator generally interacts include: other NT Functional Areas; NT Government customer (BCD and BCO); MDA Elements (MDA Government Leads for DTW and DDW, DTW Contractor Personnel (Event Mission Lead, Mission Engineers, Integrators), AB, SN, TH, LPTO Personnel); the Joint Analysis Team (JAT); NATO BMD personnel; and, Multinational WF personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • test/exercise event planning and plan documentation
  • development of detailed test/exercise procedures
  • test/exercise resource integration and execution
  • near-real-time to real-time analysis of observed performance
  • oversight of in-depth analysis of test/exercise results and, reporting of test/exercise results orally and in writing to a variety of audiences (up to and including Program Manager/SES and Flag/General Officer levels)
  • working with other NT OPRs to ensure testability of C2BMC test/exercise objectives and the C2BMC components of test/exercise architectures
  • working with the Mission Lead and/or Mission Engineer (DTW) to represent C2BMC in MDA/DT event planning and test/exercise integration and execution
  • ensuring proper C2BMC participation in trans-/post event efforts
  • contributing to MDA/DT reporting of BMDS test/exercise results
  • Non-standard work hours are highly likely.


Required Skills:

  • Development of plans to test/exercise software-intensive system in various multi-system venues (hardware-in-the-loop and simulation tests/exercises coupled with human-in-the-loop exercises); plans must include/address test/exercise methodology, detailed test/exercise procedures, identification and integration of test/exercise resources, data collection, trans/post-test analysis of results.
  • Test/exercise execution in accordance with test/exercise plans in a variety of venues.
  • Near-real-time quantitative/qualitative analysis of test/exercise results during and immediately after test/exercise execution.
  • Interpretation of test/exercise results and communication of resulting information to testers, non-testers, and senior program leadership.
  • Documentation of test/exercise, to include architecture, problems/lessons learned results versus objectives. Development of operational procedures for execution of C2BMC components.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals required.
  • Security Plus required - ability to obtain Security Plus certification within 30 days.
  • Troubleshooting skills on multi-disciplined computer systems and networks required.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating Systems required – ability to create Linux scripts a plus.
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following C2BMC functions a plus: situational awareness; track forwarding/dissemination and analysis; sensor management; engagement coordination/battle management and analysis; C2BMC planner; network and voice communications; CNIP operations and analysis; ADSI operations and analysis. Knowledge of the Ballistic Missile Defense System and its elements is highly desired.



Preferred knowledge:

  • Familiarity with DoD System Engineering processes as they apply to system testing, to include software test methodologies and terminology along with associated test tools; knowledge with testing of Missile Defense Agency elements/components is highly desirable.
  • Experience with any of the following is a plus: operational ballistic missile defense (BMD) systems (e.g., Aegis, Patriot, AN/TPY-2, GMD, THAAD); developmental BMD systems; International BMD systems (e.g., AWS, NATO ACCS, DEU Patriots, SAMPT, DEU Frigates); operational/simulation message formats (e.g., XML, JREAP-C/TADIL-J (LINK16), VMF-11, BXF/S, DIS) and associated log files.
  • Candidate holding a TS or TS/SCI a plus.
  • Must be able to obtain a NATO SECRET clearance upon joining the exercise team.


Required Education:
Technical Bachelor Degree (Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science); Master’s Degree within these areas desirable. Plus 6 years prior technical experience.

Certification Required: Security+
