Job Description

Position Overview:
Automation & System Integration (ASI) department is seeking a Sr. Controls Engineer I to support the development, implementation, and support of Automated Assembly and Test Equipment in its Factories. This position may require occasional travel (~10%) to support off site factories, or vendor locations.

  • Design integrated systems using programmable logic controllers, servo motors, robotics, vision and other associated electro-mechanical systems to create manufacturing Cells
  • Manage electrical projects including new, replacement, continuous improvements, and periodic repair of Automation Assembly Equipment
  • Create, develop and deploy new automation technologies
  • Development and deployment in SCADA systems
  • Electrical design and bill of materials creation

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Applied knowledge of Ethernet/IP
  • Knowledge of Ethernet networking
  • Knowledge of various sensor technologies
  • Ability to specify components and implement in machine design
  • Ability to specify, design, program debug stepper and servo systems for automation equipment

Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Applied Physics, or related degree and 4 years of related experience or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Applied Physics, or related degree and 2 years of related experience
  • Experience in control Systems Design and Support
  • Experience utilizing and programming Allen Bradley Studio 5000 tag based Control Systems
  • Design Experience using AutoCAD (Electrical Preferred)
  • HMI Design and Implementation experience using FactoryTalk View or Similar Software
  • Eligible to obtain a DOD secret clearance
Desired Skills:
  • Experience with NFPA79 and UL508A
  • Experience with Machine Safety, safety assessments, and how to implement appropriate SIL levels.
  • Experience with various types of safety components as well as advantages/disadvantages
  • Experience with pneumatic parts selection, design, programming and debug
  • Experience with Robot capabilities, programming, implementation
  • Experience using Vision system
