Job Description

This position can be for 1st or 2nd shift

Responsible for Factory Team management and oversight of Assemblers and Test Technicians in the mechanical assembly of precision machined parts, subassemblies, or completed units and their testing. Provide a safe work environment and actively engaged in safety improvement projects. This role is responsible for ensuring assembled hardware meets contractual quality, cost, and delivery requirements by planning, organizing, and directing the flow of production. Responsible for workforce planning and forecasting, employee hiring and training, time and attendance tracking, area layout and flow management, and ensuring compliance of company policies and procedures.

The position will interface with cross functional teams within SAS to meet organizational goals and objectives. The position uses Lean Manufacturing techniques that impact quality, cost, and delivery and successfully meet production requirements.

Required Skills:

  • 4 years direct related experience in production, manufacturing, operations, or similar environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication & interpersonal skills as well as the ability to communicate across the organization.
  • Experience either directly or indirectly managing a manufacturing, planning, scheduling, finance, operations, or similar environments
  • Must have broad knowledge of manufacturing planning/scheduling and lean manufacturing concepts.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team based cross-functional environment.
  • Strong problem solving, and project management skills
  • Strong team and individual developmental skills (Coaching for Success), in support of customer concerns
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
  • Ability to develop innovative solutions to achieve goals of improved efficiency and low assembly costs
  • Willing to work periodic weekends if necessary
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:
  • Proficient in Shop Floor Management tool VM, ESF, iMRO or CMES
  • Experience with Visual Controls, Line Balancing
  • LEAN Factory management principles and optimizing the use of critical resources
  • Experience in Assembly and Final Test
  • Six Sigma Certified
  • Security Clearance


Required Education: Bachelor Degree in Business, Engineering, Technology, Science or related discipline
