Job Description

The Production and Sr. Planning Control Specialist I will perform a variety of technical and business tasks in support of production programs. This individual will manage multiple assemblies and the associated tasks listed below are necessary in order to prevent a work stoppage or a slip in schedule, both of which would have a significant impact to the program’s cost and schedule requirements. The individual will reviews, plans, prepare, issue, and control production schedules and changes associated with his/her assemblies. Insufficient planning on the part of this individual could have a negative impact on the program meeting financial and schedule requirements. This position will also support the accurate and compliant management of processes and records related to Government Furnished Material. Tasks include, but are not limited to the following:


  • Evaluates and coordinates material requirements to ensure a controlled flow of approved materials timed to meet production/customer requirements
  • Responsible to evaluate and status the assemblies that are in progress, material availability, and potential production problems. Insufficient evaluation on the part of this individual could impact the work being performed and possibly cause a work stoppage
  • Solves any potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed
  • Control and analysis of multiple, and moderate complexity, bill of materials in an MRP system
  • Schedules equipment and personnel, confirms material supply demand, and prepares necessary work orders based on shop load and inventory requirements
  • Schedules and expedites the movement of parts by means of move orders, stock transfers, and requests for shipping orders
  • Responsible for the material tracking from purchase order release to the receipt of the material
  • Propose solutions to mitigate any work stoppage the factory teams may experience due to any slips in material orders
  • Interface with internal and external customers
  • Authorizes factory work via assembly work orders and follows that through to completion
  • Based on the individual’s detailed inventory analysis, the individual will prepare purchase requests for the production or purchase of components or parts
  • Receipt and issue of depot hardware as well as managing inventory for depot repair
  • Reconciling monthly and annual cycle counts
  • Support program screening and disposition effort associated with contract close out
  • Processing scrap
  • Coordinate and support inventory research
  • Support DCMA audits as needed
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • MRP
  • Inventory Management
  • JIT Concepts
  • Propose solutions to a variety of problems of minor scope and complexity.
  • Critical thinking and analysis skills to ensure detailed status provided to the Value Stream Manager and team
  • Contribute to the completion of organizational projects and goals
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel and Word
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate with various disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast –paced work environment
  • Ability to obtain/maintain and DOD Security Clearance
  • Working knowledge of MS PowerPoint
Required Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree In Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or relevant field
  • Four (4) years of relevant work experience
  • Eight (8) years of creditable professional experience fully meeting requirements listed above will be considered in lieu of degree completion
Desired Skills

  • Familiarity with SAP systems
  • Active DOD Security Clearance
