Job Description

The Component Engineering Department is seeking a component/parts engineer to join the component specialist group as a components specialist. The successful individual will support both space and airborne programs in the area of parts selection, drawings and specifications, provide input/support to designers, and help supply chain in procurement requirements. The successful candidate will have a right parts, right mission mindset. The candidate’s expertise is expected to direct the type of piece parts used on hardware. These parts will fit the mission requirements without compromising on reliability.

Required Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of space and military grade specifications, and industry standard technical documents. This includes an expert understanding of piece parts appropriate for all mission levels.
  • Must have a deep understanding of piece part design and fabrication, including device level testing, fabrication, qualification, and failure analysis techniques.
  • The ability to read requirements and translate this knowledge into the appropriate type of control drawings is required.
  • Experience with obsolescence and counterfeit management a plus.
  • Understand space and military grade requirements and work closely with suppliers.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:

• Experience working closely with supply chain management and mission assurance and across multiple cross functional teams is desired.
• Current clearance or background investigation.
• Familiarity with industry databases, such as IHS and GIDEP.

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Physics
• BS and 8 years, MS and 6 years, PhD and 4 years

Desired Education:
• Master’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology or Physics
