Job Description

This candidate will perform Signal Integrity (SI) studies and analyses across multiple geographical regions within SAS and Raytheon at large. The candidate should be able to quickly become familiar with the designs and be able to assist the designers in making decisions that will ensure that all of the Signal Integrity requirements are being met.

In this role, the candidate will perform analysis on component (chip) level, module (card) level, unit (box level), and system (including interconnect) level projects. Typical tasks may include pre and post route analyses for Circuit Card Assembly (CCA) designs, collaborating with PWB/CCA Product Development Engineers on board stackups, creating routing documents for CCA designs, using electromagnetic field solvers to create electrical models for high-speed communication interconnects such as connectors, flex circuits, cables, via structures, running end-to-end simulations for signals from 1Kbps serial up to 28Gbps data rates and beyond, and performing power integrity (PI) analyses on CCA designs using PI tools.

The candidate must also have a strong background in complex system clock timing and be able to perform timing analyses. Familiarity with Silicon-level Timing Analysis and Requirements (Static & Dynamic Timing Analysis/Design & Timing Constraints/Timing Closure/Sequential Clocking/Clock Trees/Clock Domain Crossing/Clock Uncertainties) and Silicon/Board-level Clock Generation and Distribution (or Clocking Architectures) is required. The goal of the team is to ensure first pass success on all designs,

Candidate will also support programs in root cause fault investigations of production and latent failures on existing fielded products. The candidate will be expected to quickly diagnose problems and recommend timely and cost-effective solutions for problem mitigation. The candidate should have experience using Time Domain Reflectometry oscilloscopes, Vector Network Analyzers, and Digital Signal Oscilloscopes.

The candidate will also be expected to mentor less experienced engineers on using SI/PI - tools/processes and will also have the opportunity to conduct classes and workshops on a periodic basis.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, of which 6 years should be in Signal Integrity Engineering.
  • Background in Digital, Analog and RF electrical designs.
  • Experience with timing analysis and clocking architectures.
  • Ability to effectively use the Mentor Hyperlynx Signal Integrity Tool Suite.
  • Experience in using IBIS and IBIS-AMI models.
  • Willingness to learn the nature of the defense industry with long-lived products and apply appropriate judgement to each task.
  • Ability to work independently and manage conflicting priorities on multiple tasks.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
Desired Skills:
  • Ability to use HSPICE, Ansys HFSS, IBIS, Simbeor, Polar Speedstack, and other related SI and timing tools.
  • Familiarity with PWB fabrication processes.
  • Familiarity with measurement techniques using Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) oscilloscopes, Vector Network Analyzers, Digital Signal Oscilloscopes.
Required Education:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, or closely related discipline
