Raytheon IIS is seeking a Software Architect for the Apex Program’s SMC team.

Apex software engineers are developing an extensible framework for Mission Management, Command & Telemetry, and Flight Dynamics. Our complex domain requires innovative solutions to meet evolving customer needs. On Apex you will work with teams of talented engineers to develop and improve advanced algorithms that handle large data sets with complex constraints.

The Apex Program SMC Architecture Team needs a Software Architect to support current development, recap, and modernization initiatives. The Software Architect will help define, develop and prototype capabilities and interfaces needed to improve the DevOps pipeline as well as modernize the mission applications. This role will be focused on architecting solutions in the current system space and expanding system capabilities as well as evolving the current software architecture to support an eventual move to Cloud Computing.

Required Skills:

  • Active TS/SCI level clearance
  • 6+ years of demonstrated engineering experience in systems engineering and/or software engineering
  • Experience in Java and C++
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as the ability to interact and present technical concepts to senior levels of management and customers
  • Knowledge of satellite ground systems, including hardware, software, and communications architecture.
  • Knowledgeable of systems engineering roles and functions, including operations concept development, requirements management, functional analysis, interface definition and control, integration, verification and validation.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Strong system engineering, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities and deadline constraints requiring rapid turnarounds
  • Experience with CONOPS / OPSCON development
  • Experience with requirements development and maintenance
  • Experience in software interface definition, documentation, and implementation
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools (including Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience documenting software architecture using UML
  • Occasional travel is required
  • US Citizenship required

Desired Skills:
  • Knowledge of DevOps methodologies
  • Knowledge of Agile SW Development
  • Knowledge of and experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery concepts
  • Knowledge of and experience with micro service architectures
  • Knowledge of and experience with cloud computing architectures
  • Experience with development of software solutions for real-time system monitoring, reporting, and fault analysis
  • Experience developing and reviewing DODAF architecture views
  • Experience in development of satellite data handling and processing software
  • Experience with system availability and system latency analyses and design considerations
  • Experience with IBM Rational DOORS
  • Experience with engineering cost estimation
  • Raytheon certified for creation of Technical Description and Basis of Estimates (TDBOEs) or equivalent
  • Qualified Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist or equivalent

Education Requirements:
B.S./B.A. in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or a science
