This opening is to fill positions within the Hardware Engineering Center of Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) Business in Largo, Florida for key contributors in the application of the latest Electrical Engineering technology and innovation to our product lines. A person in this position is expected to be a key investigator or subject matter expert in the design and development of Digital Circuit designs. The individual must have extensive technical expertise in design and production support of Digital systems.

The Hardware Engineering Center develops and supports the Manufacturing of communication products used in ground, airborne, shipboard and space applications. The Center is comprised of the Electrical Engineering and Manufacturing Test Engineering departments. The Electrical Engineering department, which is comprised of Analog, RF, Microwave, Digital, Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA), Production Test Equipment and Digital Signal Processing Design disciplines, is seeking a qualified candidate to contribute to the successful development, deployment and manufacturing support of Digital Circuit and FPGA designs.

Specific duties will include:
  • Performing design and supplier trade studies
  • Examining the effects of power consumption, weight, thermal load, performance, and cost on system performance
  • Identifying and managing risks and opportunities
  • Generating schedules and monitoring and reporting earned value
  • Writing specifications for the hardware
  • Generation and release of a documentation of specifications for components and subassemblies
  • Analyze, problem solve and multi-task to meet deadlines working in a team environment with multiple disciplines
  • Integration and test activities in a hardware/software laboratory and production environment
Required Skills:
  • Bachelors of Science degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum of 8 years Digital Circuit and FPGA design and integration experience
  • Solid knowledge of digital logic design and implementation in Programmable Logic Devices (PLD) from Xilinx, Altera or similar vendors
  • Integration and test experience in a hardware/software laboratory and production environment
  • Proficient with general purpose computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to support occasional travel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
  • Clearance required within 1st year AND role requires access to US only data
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Desired Skills:
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience, including technical leadership
  • Extensive knowledge of digital logic design and implementation in Programmable Logic Devices (PLD) from Xilinx, Altera or similar vendors
  • Technical leadership experience, capable of leading a team of 2 or more Engineers
  • Ability to interface closely with Lead Engineers, Systems Engineers and Program Management
  • Existing Secret clearance
