Job Description

AS / ACT is seeking an enthusiastic and highly capable software engineer with a recent track record of successfully developing sensor C2/tracking/operator display software based on RTI DDS messaging to run on aircraft and ground station, to support development and testing (in the lab and at flight test facilities) of QRC and production systems for EO missile defense missions.

Responsibilities include:
  • Work on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious.
  • Work effectively and contribute significantly during all phases of the software development life-cycle, including configuration-management, software test and certification.
  • Show excellent investigation and trouble-shooting skills to assess issues and develop resolutions to them in the lab and in the field.
  • Work proactively to complete tasks with some modest direction.
  • Communicate effectively with team members across disciplines, project management, and customers.
  • Significantly contribute to program and customer meetings and reviews.
  • Understand use-cases, system requirements, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification.
  • Attends technical interchange meetings with the team members and other program personnel, and represents the organization in matters pertaining to the development of his/her project.
  • Provides status on assigned Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) tasks.
  • Provides document review and resolves technical systems engineering and integration issues.
  • Supports ECP efforts as required.
  • Must have the ability to manage time and resources in order to meet assigned deadlines.
**U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.**

Required Skills:
  • 6+ years of experience with SW design, development and test.
  • BS or higher degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent.
  • Proficient in hardware / software integration
  • Hands-on experience with UAV operations (e.g., MQ-9)
  • Hands-on expertise with RHEL, C/C++/JAVA/RTI DDS
  • Development of software architecture and experience implementing software architecture
  • Excellent communication skills. Team player incorporating a team-based success philosophy
  • Experience with Agile software development efforts
  • Enthusiastic & resourceful performer able to work in a dynamic, high-visibility role
  • Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks with minimal oversight
  • Contribute to the completion of program & project milestones under the specific guidance of his/her immediate supervisor
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills and sound problem solving skills
  • Support traveling as required and working offsite on weekly or possibly multiple week basis
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • Agile Scrum development process
  • Experience with SNMP, Health and Status software systems
  • Continuous Integration methodologies
  • Experience performing low-level software optimization
  • Perforce Configuration Management (or experience with other popular CM tool)
  • Experience developing software within a CMMI level 3 or greater organization
  • Experience in Astronomy, Physics or Remote-Sensing
  • Experience with Perl/Python/Unix scripting
  • Experience with missile-defense systems, radar, navigation, tracking algorithms and performance assessment, pointing, radiometric calibration, or atmospheric correction
  • Experience with Mission-Planning, Laser System field testing
  • Experience with optical system testing on aircraft
