Job Description

The Antenna & Microwave Products Department is seeking an engineering leader based in Dallas, Texas with responsibilities having significant impact, recognition, and growth in the organization. The Antenna and Microwave Products (AP) department resides within the Hardware Engineering Center (HWEC) center in Space and Airborne Systems (SAS). The position requires domain knowledge of Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESAs) and associated technologies and proven leadership skills to effectively lead multi-disciplinary teams in pursuit and program execution. Raytheon AESA technologies are used for military radar, electronic warfare, and communications systems. The HWEC AP department is responsible for full-scope antenna product solutions, spanning architecture trades, design, development, integration, deployment, and sustainment of antenna systems and associated integrated system verification solutions. The Antenna Subsystems Engineer will be responsible for performing analysis and developing requirements for the Antenna, subassemblies and components. This position is within Raytheon\u2019s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) division Hardware Engineering Center. The primary role for this individual will be technical analysis and specification flowdown for key components of active electronically scanned arrays (AESA) as well as antenna performance predictions. Individual should be a subject matter expert in the design and development of state-of-the-art antenna and active electronic scanned arrays for Radar, EW, communications, and/or other antenna systems across multiple platforms.

Required Skills
Minimum 10 years of experience with Active Electronically Scanned Arrays
  • Experience with antenna theory/applications, beam steering computer, power supply, and digital control architecture.
  • Experience in array level integration, test, and array calibration.
  • System design, subsystem design, and architectural (functional and physical) trade analysis of antennas, transceivers, receivers, radiators, RF manifolds, RF devices
  • Experience directing the design and development of RF products including specification development, performance validation traceable to requirements, and technical direction
  • Experience leading proposals including development of technical solution and writing portions of both technical and cost volumes
  • Ability to compare antenna / RF products topologies, create models and critical thinking
  • Strong math skills and experience with Matlab, ADS, System Vue, HFSS, CST, and/or Simulink analysis and simulation
  • Performing design, trade studies and supplier assessments
  • Identifying and managing risks and opportunities
  • Examining the effects of power consumption, weight, thermal load, performance, and cost on system performance
  • Excellent verbal skills, executive presence.
  • Outstanding written communication skills evidenced by published presentations or articles
  • Able to travel
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Desired Skills
  • Significant accomplishments in RF system and subsystem design, simulation, fabrication and measurement
  • Significant accomplishments in devices for antenna subsystems including transceivers, radiators, magnetic devices, feed and lens designs and guided wave structures, radomes, and frequency selective surfaces, RF manifolds, and baluns
  • Significant accomplishments in ultra-wideband antenna elements, AESAs or subsystems including subsystem design, simulation and performance predictions, RF chain analysis, and characterizations and measurements
  • Significant accomplishments in array design including beamforming, aperture weighting, wideband sidelobe level control, sparse arrays, and distributed array

Required Education:
  • Minimum Degree: BS required
  • Majors: Engineering - EE or similar technical degree preferred

Desired Education:
  • Minimum Degree: MS/PHD preferred
  • Majors: Engineering - EE or similar technical degree preferred
