This is your opportunity to join the Missile Defense Radar Software Leadership Team in Woburn, Massachusetts as a Software Process Engineer on the AN/TPY-2 Radar Team. The Missile Defense Radar Software Department’s mission is to provide world class Missile Defense and Surveillance Radar Software to be used in radar systems deployed on land and sea. Our software teams employ AGILE development to rapidly and continuously deploy capabilities for our customers. We strive for technical excellence by drawing upon a diverse workforce whose knowledge base covers the complete spectrum of modern computing languages and platforms.

The Process Engineer is an integral part of the software leadership team. This position involves writing project plans, including the Software Development Plan, Measurement & Analysis Plan, Process Tailoring, and Project Work Instructions. The Software Process Engineer is a key member of the Project’s Software Team of X helping develop and apply monthly metrics to shape project execution. The process engineer supports all software management and technical reviews to both internal and external customers.
The candidate will create the monthly management package, compiling and analyzing Agile metrics related to Release burndowns, Productivity, and Earned Value (EV). The Process Engineer will facilitate Process Improvement Discussions (PIDs) to help the project summarize and clarify what needs to be improved. This opportunity is your entry point into software program leadership on a dynamic and growing team.

This position can be a Salary Grade G08 or Salary Grade G09 based on the candidate's qualifications relative to the skills, experience and requirements of the position.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in software engineering
  • 2+ years working in a team environment developing software applications
  • 1 year of experience with C, C++, Ada, or Java
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement and training
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. Citizens are eligible for a clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • Auditing and CMMI Appraisal support experience
  • Earned Value Reporting and metrics experience
  • Team Leadership experience
  • Understanding of Agile/SCRUM development
  • Understanding of Continuous Integration / DevOps development
  • Software development experience in a DoD environment
  • Radar domain knowledge
  • Experience using software configuration management and bug tracking tool
Required Education:
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math or related engineering/science discipline.

Desired Education:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering
