Job Description

Are you a recognized expert in the conceptual design of high-speed flight vehicles?

Do you have demonstrated experience leading a team in the design of high speed flight vehicles and control systems? If you can answer “yes” to these questions then we want to talk to you!

We are Raytheon Missile Systems and we are seeking an engineering professional with experience leading teams performing aerodynamics design, wind tunnel testing, and flight test support activities. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in performing critical aerospace system trades and possess the presence required to advise upper level management in pursuit of courses of action to achieve organizational business objectives. Twelve years applied experience required.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Minimum Degree: B.S. in the following majors: Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics – General, Aero & Astro Eng.
  • Twelve (12) years' applicable experience with experience in aerodynamic design, analysis, ground test, and flight test in support of aerospace systems design. Proven knowledge of fundamental concepts, with high level of analytical ability to drive technical solutions.
  • Proficiency in leading a team in the design of a flight vehicle with demonstrated experience as an aerospace architect including trade studies and requirements flow down and verification.
  • Experience leading wind tunnel test and supporting flight testing. Experience deducing aerodynamics and propulsions system performance from post flight data analysis.
  • Business development experience. Experience in technical and cost proposal preparation.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Experience managing suppliers. Experience generating specifications and statements-of-work.
  • Well known with established relationships in industry. The ideal candidate will be viewed as an expert and serve as a consultant to the organization in determining and developing required technologies to achieve organization growth objectives in the area of high speed flight vehicles.
  • Familiarity with Matlab, Python, FORTRAN and/or C/C++.
Security Clearance:
Must currently have a DoD issued Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Education, Skills and Experience:
  • Advanced degrees as mentioned above
  • Current DoD clearance / TS/SSBI
  • Twenty (20) years’ experience in advanced high-speed airframe configuration design development, control system design, and integration and test.
  • Experience in the design of high-speed air-breathing propulsion systems and associated technologies. Recognized expert in industry with patents and publications in applicable technical areas.
  • Experience with subsonic, supersonic aerodynamics as well as familiarity with hypersonic/high altitude aerodynamics and thermodynamics and the basics of missile stability & control.
  • Proficient with aerodynamics prediction tools and understanding applicability of specific tools including CFD.
  • Experience with flight system conceptual design best practices
  • The demonstration of successful team leadership activities.
