Job Description:
Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is the provider of AESA Radar Systems which provide the war fighter with the most accurate and timely information available for the network-centric battlefield. The Systems Engineering Integration and Test Center (SEIT) organization is seeking committed engineering leaders who are passionate about creating innovative and cost effective solutions for the war-fighter.

We are seeking a Flight Test Systems Engineer to become a member of the Tactical Radar Systems Department as a Flight Test Intern within the Systems Engineering Integration and Test Center.

Primary responsibilities for this position include:
  • Developing Flight Test Planning Software tools using MATLAB
  • Managing Electronic Flight Bags
  • Translating test project technical requirements into executable flight tests
  • Creating flight test profiles
  • Developing test matrices, mission flows, and card decks for test missions
  • Coordinating and scheduling test activities with major Test Ranges
  • Authoring and editing flight test and safety plans
  • Supporting customer Technical Review Boards and Safety Review Boards
  • Additional responsibilities for this position include:
  • Analyzing flight data products to generate reports for presentation
  • Performing post flight data processing
  • Performing analysis of flight and laboratory test data

For Multi-Level Intern Requisitions:
This position can be a Salary Grade of G04, G05 or NUG based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.
  • G04 (College Junior by Fall 2020) must have completed 60 hours of college
  • G05 (College Senior by Fall 2020) must have completed 90 hours of college
  • NUG (Post Graduate Masters PhD by Fall 2020) must have an Undergraduate Degree and currently enrolled or about to enroll in a Graduate Degree Program
Required Skills:
  • Familiarity with Aircraft Flight Operations, Aviation Terminology, and Radio Procedures
  • Substantial experience developing new tools via MATLAB Scripts
  • Ability to hold an FAA Class III Medical Certificate
  • Must be a college Junior, Senior or Graduate student by Fall 2020
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
Desired Skills:
  • Private Pilot’s License or greater
  • Active Secret or higher Security Clearance
  • Previous internship experience
  • Aviation background to include flight training and experience
  • Experience with developing analysis tools and performing data analysis
  • Experience flight planning using Electronic Flight Bag software such as Fore-flight or Garmin Pilot
  • Familiarity with flight test planning, safety planning, test techniques, and test conduct
  • Strong desire to learn, take initiative and contribute in a team oriented environment
  • Ability to multitask and problem solve while working in high paced, high demand laboratory and flight test environments
Required Education (including major):
  • Currently pursuing a BS Degree from a 4-year University and entering as a college Junior or Senior by Fall 2020.
  • Must be working towards a Degree in Math, Computer Science, Physics, Aerospace or Technical Science Degree or related field.
