Job Description
Interns can expect to have exposure to Industrial Engineers, Process Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers. Industrial Engineers apply advanced problem solving techniques and lean principles to develop and optimize the Manufacturing system in order to maximize throughput, increase efficiency, and value. Industrial Engineers are involved in all phases of the factory life cycle, including proposals, Capacity Planning, Manpower Planning, Factory Layout, Cell/Line balancing, Simulation and Process Modeling, Labor Performance Analysis, Pareto Analysis, Process Mapping, and Project Management. Manufacturing Engineers learn production operations and the manufacturing discipline in a controlled environment. They develop manufacturing engineering skills, an understanding of manufacturing (cost, quality, safety and schedule), and RMS systems and tools. MEs build technical depth in manufacturing processes and are accountable for improvement and optimization. Process Engineers provide common standard methodology for propagating Engineering requirements to product design activities, link product development to production capabilities, provide standard documentation for material performance characteristics and selection criteria, and provide support for the proposed solution throughout the product life cycle. Will work to improve processes in order to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability.

Required Skills:
  • Pursuing Bachelor's or Master’s degree of science in Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology and Aerospace Engineering or closely related field
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
  • Have the ability to obtain a final DoD SECRET security clearance (requires US citizenship)


Desired Skills:
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Excellent writing, speaking, analytical, organizational skills

This position can be a Salary Grade ST02, ST03, ST04 or Salary Grade ST05 based on the candidate's qualifications and standing as outlined below:

  • ST02 (Sophomore Technical Intern) - must have completed 30 hours of college
  • ST03 (Junior Technical Intern) - must have completed 60 hours of college
  • ST04 (Senior Technical Intern) - must have completed 90 hours of college
  • ST05 (Post Grad Technical Intern) - must have completed 90 hours of college


This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement.
