Job Description


This is a temporary position of undetermined length.

Job Description:
  • Design crate containers and packaging configurations based on fragility factors, dimensions, and contents for shipments of various parts and test equipment
  • Review contract requirements to meet packaging requirements, design containers, and create packaging instructions, based on military (Mil-Std-2073) and commercial (ASTM) standards
  • Update Estimates at Completion and Estimates to Completion by budgeting labor hours and "other direct costs" for the Packaging/Shipping Department
  • Provide customer support by providing information relating to shipment requirements, labor estimates and container requirements
  • Create, revise, and maintain drawings and specifications for containers and packaging requirements
  • Research new packaging materials and equipment for cost savings, and improved packaging methods
  • Assist with other ancillary shipping department duties, as requested.



Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 4 years of work experience in Packaging Engineering, Logistics, and/or Shipping.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, process oriented, customer service environment
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.


Desired Skills:

  • Experience in an aerospace or government work environment
  • Six Sigma Certification or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of SAP PRISM/APEX or equivalent business system
  • Dangerous Goods certification in 49CFR, IATA, and IMDG.
  • Degree / Specialization in Packaging Engineering

  • Experience with military (Mil-Std-2073) and commercial (ASTM) standards



Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Packaging Engineering or related field
