Job Description


Job Description: Principal Technical Editor reports the Technical Documentation Section Manager and provides editorial oversight to 30 technical writers supporting various technical writing programs. Edits, writes, and/or rewrites technical documentation, articles, publications, presentations, and other materials to communicate clearly and effectively a variety of technical information, research findings, technical developments, and other news and information to a wide range of internal and external audiences. Interprets and administers documentation/ communication policies and procedures. Advises writers and researchers in matters of style, syntax, and usage to improve the general quality and effectiveness of communications. Exercises quality control over documents intended for external distribution. May participate in copy clearance process. Ensures consistency across various industry standard styles including MIL-STD-40051, S1000D, and contractor format.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ as an editor.
  • Experience editing and developing technical documentation based on MIL-STD and S1000D standards.
Desired Skills:
  • Military technical manual review and editing.
  • Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) and PDF development.
Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field is required
  • Master’s degree preferred
