Job Description

This position is for early career individuals who have less than 2 years of professional work experience and who will receive a degree during the current academic year or who received their degree within the last 18 months.

Job Description:


The Advanced Test Systems Engineering Center (ATSEC), at Raytheon, is comprised of five departments, with an engineering population of 450+ employees. We design and produce $300M+/year of engineering test stations. The ATSEC organization has the responsibility to grow and sustain engineering competencies throughout all missile engineering test activities, and to make these systems more affordable, credible, agile, and robust.

Within ATSEC, Manufacturing engineering supports the Systems Test Directorate and has the responsibility to resolve test equipment and prototype manufacturing issues based on a combination of degree experience and knowledge of the engineering design, need and final intended application. Utilizing Engineering Manufacturing Management System (EMMS) to generate work orders, build/maintain indentured build of materials (IBOMS), generate material requisitions and provide material/work order status to customers. Design acquisition and manufacturing of complex test equipment including cables, chassis, electro/mechanical fixtures, ITA's, and final assembly and inspection of completed test systems. Participate in engineering design reviews, maintain drawing configuration, acquire and track material, assist in resolving manufacturing issues and overseeing delivery of final products to internal/external customers.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Required Education/Skills:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in any of the following Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Management or equivalent technical degree. Must be either currently pursuing degree or degree must have been granted in the last 18 months.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings related to electrical instrumentation; Course work or Engineering projects related to manufacturing of electronic assemblies.
  • Knowledge of configuration control of products and drawings which includes the ability to understand a drawing structure and materials required for manufacturing.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office products (such as Excel, Word and/or PowerPoint)
  • Understanding of customer interfacing in an engineering/manufacturing environment and the ability to succinctly communicate manufacturing issues with leadership, peers, and project sponsors.
This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Education and Skills:
  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
  • Experience with material procurement related to electrical instrumentation
  • Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts related to electrical instrumentation
  • Limited experience with design, use, and fabrication of electrical instrumentation
  • Experience working in an engineering environment focused on test equipment or prototype engineering hardware
  • Experience dealing with supply chain and material obsolesces issues
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced teaming environment.
  • Written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with and take direction from Functional Management and IPT’s from multiple programs
  • Current/Active DoD clearance
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures
  • Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
