Job Description

As Raytheon Intelligence, Information, and Services (IIS) has a Mechanical Engineering Internship opportunity to join our Hardware & Infrastructure (HWI) team located in Indianapolis, Indiana. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will work with a team of talented and experienced engineers in performing activities related to the design, development, integration and testing of mechanical products. Support for these activities may include design, modeling and generation of engineering drawings using CREO (3-D CAD software tool); supporting trade studies; and providing general engineering support for production and testing.

The actual assigned tasks will depend on the skills of the individual intern and the project needs at the time. You will be expected to apply your engineering knowledge to provide creative and innovative solutions to problems and to ensure that projects are completed on schedule while following established procedures. You will be expected to work with technical direction at a medium level of independence. This position can be for a Junior, Senior, or Post-graduate level internship based on the candidate’s qualifications, including degree credits earned at the time of the internship.

Required Qualifications:
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursing a Bachelor's of Science or Masters of Science degree in the area of Mechanical Engineering or another STEM related field recognized by Raytheon. Please include your GPA on your resume and a copy of your transcript.
  • Mechanical engineering coursework such as: basic design, thermodynamics, dynamics, metallurgy, basic electrical circuits, mechanics of materials, modeling, analysis and simulation, and associated lab work
  • Experience with a 3D CAD solid modeling tool
  • U.S. Citizenship is required, this position requires the ability to access systems that contain information restricted to U.S. Citizens based on certain Federal Government contractual requirements.

Desired Qualifications:
  • GPA of 3.0+ on a 4.0 scale
  • Knowledge of MS Office
  • Positive attitude and desire to learn
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Engineering project or internship experience
  • Demonstrated leadership experience through school or extracurricular projects
