Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST) Broadband Communications Systems Division (BCS) seeks a Principal Network Systems Engineer who will be a member of a systems engineering team responsible for development, integration, test, and deployment of systems in the Optical Transport Network domain. This systems engineer will collaborate with customers, project leadership, and systems/software/hardware/FPGA engineers to develop, enhance, and maintain complex systems.

Required Skills:
  • 8+ years of experience in systems engineering, systems integration, or product development
  • Experience with Wide Area Network (WAN) technologies such as DWDM, OTN, SONET/SDH, or Carrier Ethernet at rates up to 100Gbps
  • Experience with the protocols used for the routing, switching, and multiplexing of voice, video, and data applications
  • Hands on experience in the development, integration, or deployment of software, hardware or FPGA-based components
  • Experience leading cross-discipline (e.g. software, hardware, and FPGA) engineering teams
  • Experience as an individual contributor and/or technical lead in the major phases of systems/product development life cycle
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Able to travel as needed to customer sites or other RAST offices (up to 10% of time)
  • U.S. Citizenship Status is required as this position needs an active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with IP deep packet inspection, network management and performance monitoring, distributed system architectures
  • Strong presentation and collaboration skills, especially in working with senior leadership, and external customers
  • Experience writing system documentation (e.g. CONOPS, System Requirements, RVTMs, I&T plans, Acceptance Test Plans, test reports) required to develop, integrate, test and deliver systems to meet customer objectives
  • Proven track record of advocating and maintaining high engineering standards and quality throughout the life of a project

Required Education:
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or other STEM (MS degree desired)

This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
