Job Description

SAS Engineering is establishing a Supplier Engineering (SE) organization to provide technical knowledge and process capability expertise to improve supplier performance. Supplier Engineers are engaged in all phases of product life cycle, beginning with proposal development, new product development, advanced manufacturing initiatives within the supply base and continuing through production implementation. Capture activities within SAS total over $17B across SAS Mission Areas and 430+ suppliers are executing over $830M in contract commitments. Effective Supplier Engineering engagement across this broad base of activities is imperative in order to reduce the growing number of supplier related issues SAS has been experiencing. This role drives Raytheon design requirements while aligning with supplier capabilities to ensure producibility, affordability and delivery of quality products from the supply base. The role also performs supplier risk management & issue resolution activities, oversees supplier performance, and executes supplier assessments (e.g. BVSS, capability, RESA).
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing Technical Evaluations
  • Supplier capability assessments and selection
  • Supplier risk identification & mitigation planning and bidding
  • Supplier Statement of Work (SSOW) development.
  • Ensuring technical adequacy of supplier products
  • Meet organizational performance metrics and goals
  • Support supplier FRB/Failure investigations
  • Use of D/PFMEA and other risk assessment tools
Required Skills
  • 8+ Years of relevant engineering experience
  • Strong leadership and people skills
  • Experience with supplier engagements, technical & capability assessments, requirements translation & understanding, and supplier performance management
  • Working knowledge of robust manufacturing engineering, producibility and affordability practices
  • Consistent application of departmental processes and tools
  • U.S. Citizenship required as well as an active SECRET clearance.
Desired Skills
  • Working knowledge of Raytheon Enterprise Supplier Assessment (RESA), Design for Six Sigma (DFSS), Enterprise Sourcing & Performance Excellence (ESPX), IPDS, Commodity Strategy, and SAS design and procurement processes.

Required Education
B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Science or Mathematics
This position requires either a U.S. Person or a Non-U.S. Person who is eligible to obtain any required Export Authorization.
