Multi-Disciplined Engineering Intern (Hampton, VA)

Raytheon Intelligence, Information and Services (IIS) is looking for a summer intern to support our multi-disciplined computer engineering solutions and software/system support program for the Air Operation Center Weapon System (AOC WS) contract based out of Hampton, VA. The AOC WS Long Term Maintenance and Sustainment team provides integration of IT-Intensive C4I systems into the Joint Forces Air Component Commander’s weapon system. The successful candidate will have an appropriate understanding and solid background in computer engineering, web interfaces, cyber and/or computer engineering. Furthermore, they will need to have an understanding and application of systems engineering and configuration management principals and processes, mission planning/scheduling, along with exposure to systems engineering and sustainment of existing baseline.

A sample of tasking includes:
  • Assisting with programming in C, C++, and/or Java
  • Participating in peer reviews for technical documentation
  • Face to face interaction with senior engineers and support of technical meetings and technical interchanges
  • Assisting with GUI development
  • Supporting Software testing including conducting test procedures and configuring equipment for test

Required Experience, Knowledge and/or Skills:
  • Knowledge of test processes
  • Knowledge of Java, C, C++, XML, or other languages
  • Assisting with GUI development
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio)
  • Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Possess good analytical, presentation and communication (written and verbal) skills

Desired Experience, Knowledge and/or Skills:
  • An understanding of the fundamentals of computer engineering
  • Red Hat Linux experience
  • Previous engineering intern experience

Required Education:
  • Candidate must be enrolled in an accredited college or university, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in the area of Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a closely related STEM field.
  • This position can be for Sophomore, Junior or Senior students based on the candidate's qualifications, including degree credits earned.
  • A GPA of 3.0+ is highly desired.
