Job Description

SATCOM SUBJECT MATTER EXPERT
COLORADO SPRINGS, CO



The SATCOM Subject Matter Expert is a member of a multi-functional team providing support to the NORAD/Northcom and DoD customers at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station. The SATCOM Technician’s technical, operational, and functional tasks spectrum includes performing Tier II operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks in support of Family of Advanced Beyond Line-of-Sight Terminal (FAB-T)

Responsibilities:
  • Works under the functional/operational supervision of the Station Manager
  • Perform Operations and Maintenance on FAB-T equipment to include replacement of circuit cards or major subassemblies
  • Responsible for training of all technicians/Operators assigned to FAB-T work center
  • Documents training sessions and training progress of all FAB-T Technicians/Operators
  • Submits, manages, processes, and resolves Tier II tickets
    • Performs Tier II operations and maintenance (O&M) tasks on all FAB-T systems and subsystems located at Cheyenne Mountain Air Force Station with a thorough understanding in below functional areas
    • Frequency Division Multiple Access
    • Satellite tracking, Antenna drive and servo systems
    • Spectral analysis using a spectrum analyzer
    • SATCOM Theory
    • Perform component level work (down to the lowest replaceable unit (LRU) as necessary
    • Perform all operations and maintenance actions (O&M) IAW all Technical Manuals
    • Submits Authorized Service Interruption (ASI) requests
    • Schedules equipment downtime
    • Tracks metrics for equipment uptime rates
    • Perform Crypto device updates and perform CRO duties
    • Maintain Test Measurement, and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE)

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI
  • Minimum bachelors degrre plus 4 years SATCOM Operations and Maintenance experience or Associates Degree or Trade School in Electronic Technology plus 8 years SATCOM Operations and Maintenance experience
  • Experience resolving high level problems to include recommending and implementing alternative set-up and/or operations of complex systems
  • CompTIA Security + certification
  • Experience with loading Cryptographic equipment
  • Experience managing multiple projects and tasks
  • Experience providing incident and after action reports and analysis

Desired Skills/Certifications:
  • Advanced SATCOM Courses
  • Fundamentals of UNIX/LINUX
  • Milstar experience

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment 148523
