Job Description

The North Warning System (NWS) is a joint United States and Canadian radar system that includes 47 radar sites spanning the Arctic from Labrador to the Alaska border. The NWS provides the capability to detect airborne threats across North America's polar region, providing a command and control capability to the Canadian Air Defence Sector (CADS) of the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD).

Raytheon provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the NWS system including full care, custody, and control of the entire NWS and its components. This includes 47 radar sites; five logistics support sites (LSSs), a monitoring and control center, and a radar depot. Key activities include radar, equipment and facilities maintenance/repair; logistics support; and remote monitoring and control.

Raytheon Canada seeks a Senior Radome Service Technician for the North Warning System program.
This position is a temporary position and can be based out of the five (5) Logistics Support Sites (LSS) in Inuvik, Cambridge Bay, Hall Beach, Iqaluit or Goose Bay. This position can be filled on a full or part time basis.

To be successful in this role, you will be an energetic, resourceful individual who possesses the professionalism as well as the leadership skills to supervise crews in remote locations.

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on NWS radomes assets as well as working at heights on NWS infrastructure as required.
• Ensure all work performed conforms to NWS Technical Manuals, Original Equipment Manufacturers' (OEM) Directives and best commercial practices using applicable codes, regulations and acts. Control and issue all technical services documentation.


Requirements:
• High School Diploma and at least 5 years’ experience with radome installation and maintenance
• Ability to travel extensively domestically for extended periods
• Familiarity with a variety of construction tools
• Solid mechanical aptitude and physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Demonstrated experience working at heights installing and using scaffolding
• Climbing/rope access skills are mandatory
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel or equivalent
• Ability to gain a security clearance may be required
• Ability to balance competing priorities and work in a fast paced dynamic environment.

Desirable Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
• Strong customer relations skills and cultural awareness and sensitivity
• Familiarity / proven success working in the Canadian Arctic, harsh conditions and isolation.
