Job Description

IIS Field Engineering, THAAD CLS Radar Team Lead will be directly responsibility for ensuring that the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system is fully functional 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. This includes all states and modes of preventative & corrective maintenance, trouble-shooting, and repair of the radar. The Team Lead will monitor radar diagnostics for any radar system anomalies and develops, and delivers advanced training to site personnel for maintenance activities as required. The Team Lead will develop and coordinate the radar system planned maintenance program, coordinate and submit PMCS Waivers and Deferred maintenance requests, and document and post all maintenance related Field Bulletins.

The THAAD CLS Radar Team Lead will review all ALCS program data to insure that all required data has been entered to include ITR’s, calibration records, PMCS, and other areas as required and contains sufficient information for Failure Review Board evaluations. The Team Lead will schedule and plan for installation of Change Notices Interfacing as needed with Engineering and site personnel to insure success. The Team Lead will maintain all PMCS schedules and ensure all tasks are completed and documented properly and will insure that all JO’s/ITR’s are updated. The Team Lead will assist in the establishment of RF Hazard/Keep-Out Zones (KOZs) with safety personnel and in the development and implementation of site-unique radiation procedures. The Team Lead will evaluate the adequacy and technical content of the Operating Manuals, Operating Instructions Procedures and Work Packages and suggest modifications as appropriate using LIR process.

The THAAD CLS Radar Team Lead will coordinate with the THAAD Army Unit Command and Maintenance teams as well as other radar operation supervisors and system engineering leads to accomplish all tasks required and obtain required resources. Work is performed with minimal direction and REQUIRES an individual with an ADVANCED technical TPY-2 knowledge and proficiency.
The selected candidate will be expected to:

•Install, check out, operate, maintain, repair and modify the TPY-2 equipment.
•Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommend corrective action.
•Advise and assist in effecting design changes to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operation.
•Devise and implement preventive maintenance programs and keep performance and maintenance records on equipment.

This position will remain in an unaccompanied deployable status. Selected candidate will be chosen with the understanding that they are willing and able to travel for related work assignments to include deployment to work locations at various sites both nationally and internationally.

This position will be located at Fort Hood, Texas and may require deployment to an offsite or foreign location with an immediate response time.

Selected candidate must meet all required medical expectations as defined by the customer prior to and after deployment to assignment.
Selected candidate must have a U.S. Driver’s License

CURRENT ACTIVE SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED.

Required Skills:

•At least five years’ experience in the troubleshooting and operational checkout of TPY-2 systems
•Ability to be flexible with related work assignments to include deployment to work locations at various sites internationally
•Self-starter – proactive in determining goals and objectives and pursuing the necessary course of action
•Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
•Documented experience on DoD or Missile Defense Program
•Experience with leadership/control account management on technical teams
•Isolate data availability problems between mission processing equipment & communications media
•Monitor radar diagnostics for any radar system anomalies (e.g. REX, BSG, Antenna/Sub-Array/TRIMMs)
•Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in an extreme desert heat environment
•Must be experienced and familiar with the tools and test equipment commonly used in electronic installation, maintenance and test
•Possess mechanical aptitude with tools and demonstrate an understanding of mechanical assemblies. Able to dis-assemble and assemble and understand the principles of mechanical failures
•Hydraulics systems maintenance and repair
•Logistics experience and strong ALCS knowledge
•Experience in depot level troubleshooting in support of phased array radar sensors. Have the ability to fault isolate RF analog/digital failures using system on board software diagnostics and external test equipment and read schematics
•Demonstrated excellence in past work performance
•Must possess excellent technical writing and oral communication skills
•Must meet overseas medical deployment qualifications, when necessary

Desired Skills:

•Strong working knowledge of Unix, MatLab and MSOffice products
•HVAC Systems maintenance and repair
•Demonstrated excellence in past work performance
•Welding/Soldering certifications
•Possess a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
•Certified Six Sigma Specialist


Required Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field and a minimum of 6 years of experience , or an Associate degree with 10 year's experience Or HS Diploma/GED with 14 years of related experience.
