Job Description

This is a national level role in the SAS IT Configuration Management organization in support of the Engineering Solutions Software Engineering team. This position will be located in either El Segundo, North Texas or the Northeast supporting software and systems engineers in multiple regions/sites across Raytheon. This person will be responsible for the release management, infrastructure maintenance and operational support, end user support, and supplier engagement of the Configuration Management (CM) tools ClearCase and ClearCase/MultiSite. This person will be actively engaged with strategic suppliers to resolve issues and provide input on future product directions. Additionally, this person will be a key team member helping the organization deliver service excellence around the following activities: interfacing with program personnel and the program Software and Systems CM team; coordinating resources to provide appropriate tool related CM services; helping users on programs effectively use CM tools; troubleshooting tool related problems; tailoring tools to specific program needs, and identifying and documenting Software Engineering Solutions best practices.

The duties of this job include but are not limited to:
  • Engage and consult with programs on the implementation of Software CM Engineering solutions; act as a change agent to steer programs in the use of and adoption of strategic solutions and emerging technologies
  • Develop and deploy Configuration Management and Change Management solutions to programs
  • Provide general user support for ClearCase and ClearCase MultiSite.
  • Manage upgrade installations for ClearCase and ClearCase MultiSite including testing, data backups, VOB and view configuration.
  • Work with the CM community, IBM, and SAS IT Engineering Solutions team to understand, plan, and implement migrations off of legacy ClearCase instances to Bitbucket, GitHub and Rational Team Concert.
  • Provide technical knowledge and act as a ClearCase/MultiSite subject matter expert
  • Develop and deploy ClearCase/MultiSite scripts and triggers
  • Function as part of the virtual SAS IT Engineering Solutions Software Engineering services team
  • Identify, document, and champion software CM engineering automation best practices and improvements which help engineers be more productive.
  • Engage in new technology investigations and evaluations from strategic vendors. For high ROI capabilities, be part of a team to lead the pilot and deployment of these emerging technologies.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum of 6 years professional experience
  • Experience with a CM tool. ClearCase experience highly desirable.
  • Experience with Windows and UNIX. Admin experience with either or both highly desirable.
  • Experience with scripting and automation. Perl experience highly desirable.
  • Willingness to become a ClearCase and ClearCase MultiSite SME
  • Strong automation background with the ability to troubleshoot / solve complex problems
  • Strong communication, presentation, and people skills with ability to interface with senior lead engineers and program management personnel.
  • Ability to multi-task, to support multiple customers, and to work within specific schedule and cost constraints
  • Strong teamwork skills – The ability to interact productively with end users, analysts, other Raytheon personnel, and customers in a diverse team setting
  • Ability to work and collaborate in virtual environment where team members are not co-located.
  • Self-motivated and able to function with minimal oversight
  • Self-directed with good organizational skills
  • Must be a U.S. citizen capable of obtaining a DoD secret clearance.
Desired Skills:
  • 3-6 years Program experience in the area of Software Engineering.
  • 1-3 years CM support experience on one or more programs.
  • Knowledge and experience with software engineering best practices and work instructions.
  • Strong understanding and implementation experience with agile software principles.
  • Knowledge of IBM’s strategic direction around Rational ClearCase and roadmap/plans for future improvements (including participation in IBM’s Design Partner Program – DPP)
  • Experience migrating from ClearCase to Bitbucket, GitHub or RTC.
  • Customer engagement/relationship management experience or prior consulting experience.
  • Detailed working knowledge of Configuration Management processes, work instructions and best practices.
  • Strong computer skills and/or programming experience in one or more languages.
  • 1-3 years process experience generating process documentation/tooling aids and instructing others in a SW process area
  • Existing secret or top secret security clearance
Required Education (including Major):
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical degree.
